Good eating begins Saturday at 6:30. Cost is $3.75 per person. There is something for everyone to enjoy in this week's catalogue of community activities.

For the younger set, the Grand Ledge Jaycee Auxiliary is sponsoring a puppet show, there will be a Shakespearian play given by the Boarshead Players for the classical literature buffs, a science fiction program for the escapists, and can you believe this? a campout in Michigan's northern regions for the hale and hearty. And of course, sundry square dances for the little bit of swinger in all of us. The Lansing Public Library presents "Last of the Log Drives" Tuesday as part of its Brown Bagger Noon Films series. The film will be shown in the library galleries at 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.., The East Lansing Women's Club and Friends of the library present a book review of "Memory of Old Jack" in the Community room of the East Lansing Public Library, Monday at 1 p.m.

Irving Berlin's film "Putting on the Ritz" will be shown Monday at 7 p.m. at the East Lansing Public Library. No admission charge. ART SHOWS "Sadko," a film about a young minstrel who sails around the world in search of the bird of happiness, will be shown Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalis! Church, 855 Grove, East Lansing.

Admission is $1.50 for adults90 cents for students. Slides, music and a narration of "On the Mind the Wild West" a study of the American Indian and his respect for the land, will be presented Sunday at Carl G. Fenner Arboretum lecture room, 2020 E. Mt. Hope.

The program begins at 3 p.m. and is free. Mt. Everest and surrounding area will be the topic of a slide presentation Tuesday at the Scott Art and Garden Center, 915 Townsend. The event, beginning at 8 p.m., is sponsored by the Lansing Camera Club.

"The Last Question," a science fiction story by Isaac Asimov, is showing now through March 9 at Abrams Planetarium on the MSU campus. Showtimes are 8 and 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 and 4 p.m. Sundays. Adults, $1.25, students, $1, children under 12, 50 cents.

DANCES An exhibit of seventeen space-related paintings is on display through Feb. 25 at Abrams Planetarium on the Michigan State University campus. The paintings, by Don M. Dixon, can be seen 8:30 to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Fridays and Saturdays and 2 to 4 p.m. Paintings, sculpture and photographs are on display through Jan. 30 at the Lansing Community Art Gallery, 1 1 8'i E. Michigan, 1 1:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. MUSIC THEATER Single Adults will hold a potluck supper and program that offers a brief view of a foreign country Friday at 7 p.m. The place is the Peoples Church of East Lansing. Admission is one dish of food or admission fee.

Children's Community Nursery, Inc. is holding a parents' meeting Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1 001 Chester. Mary Patton of the American Red Cross will speak on "First Aid for Parents of Young Children." The Committee to Combat Huntington's Disease will hold its first meeting Sunday at 2 p.m.

at the home of David Ellis, 1315 Cedarhill, East Lansing. All interested persons are welcome. The Lansing Art Guild will hold a discussion and report on the excavation of Morgantina, an archeological site in Sicily. Speaking will be Prof. Paul Deussen.

The public is invited to the event tonight at 7:30 at Scott Art and Garden Center, 915 Townsend. The Greater Lansing Epilepsy Association will meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the library of Peoples Church in East Lansing. Discussion will concern the community and epilepsy. The Uncoupled Club will hold a singles party with cards, dancing and refreshments.

Discussion topic will be "cut-rate dating." The place is the Canterbury House, 4590 Seaway. Admission is 50 cents for members, $1 for non-members. The Lansing Baha'i Community will sponsor an open discussion concerning the principles of the Baha'i Faith Saturday at 8 p.m. at 4061 Woodbridge. Abrams Planetarium on the MSU campus is holding a sky-viewing session each clear evening through Jan.

25, from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The planetarium staff will point out four planets and winter constellations. The Eaton Rapids Women's Chorus will present an evening of classical, spiritual, folk and popular music tonight at 8 p.m. at Eaton Rapids High School auditorium. Admission is $1.50 for adults, 75 cents for children.

The MSU Folksong Society invites everyone to enjoy an evening of folk music with Joel Mabus at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Ten Pound Fiddle coffeehouse. The coffeehouse is located in the Union Grill. Admission is $1. The Boarshead Players will present "The Tempest," Shakespeare's final comedy, tonight through Feb.

9 at 200 E. River in Grand Ledge. Reservations can be made by calling 627-7805. Theater dinner reservations with the Old Ice Box can be made by calling 627-2106. Showtime is 8 p.m.

The Holt Junior High School Choir will present a musical, "Where Is the Mayor?" a two-act comedy, Tuesday at Holt Junior High. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $1 for adults, 50 cents for students. The Greater Lansing YWCA is sponsoring a matinee theater trip to the Fisher Theater to see the musical "Irene" on Feb. 12.

Reservations must be made by Jan. 31 by calling 485-7201 or stop by at 21 7 Townsend. Cost is $16 for members and $18.50 for non-members which includes transportation and theater tickets. The Bretton Woods Lions will present their first annual Mardi Gras Ball Feb. 6 at the National Guard Armory, 2500 S.

The Stonegate Swingers will step Friday at Maple Grove School beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Original Mixers will present an evening of open house dances Friday night at 9. Red Van Sickle will provide the music, at Delhi Township Hall. Admission is $1.50 for members, $1.75 for non-members. 4 The Rip Snorter's Square Dance Club will swing Friday at 8 p.m.

at the North School, 5906 Curry. Rip Risky will do the calling. Cost is $3 per couple. Enjoy all the pie you can eat at a square dance sponsored by Capitol Wheel 'n' Dealers, Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Delhi Township Hall in Holt.

Larry Carsten and Nyla Farr will do the calling. Dance western style with the Rhythm Squares day at 7:30 p.m. at Webberville Elementary School. Larry Prior will do the calling. Cost is $3 per couple.

The DeWitt Merry Mixers will hold a western style square dance Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at DeWitt Middle School on Herbison Rd. Dave Crissey will do the calling. Cost is $3 per couple. All Western style square dancers are welcome to join the Circle Eights dancers at the Delta Mills Elementary School, Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Ted Capman is the caller. The Swingers Square Dance Club will sponsor a square dance Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Cumberland School. Following the dance will be a potluck supper. Fineout will do the caliing.

RECREATION FOR KIDS The Tri-County Bicycle Association is sponsoring a day of cross-country skiing Saturday at Rose Lake Recreation Area on Woodbridge, Ti miles north of 1-69. Skiing begins at 2 p.m. and is free. A snowshoe winter campout at Tahquamenon Falls Park will begin Friday evening and span the weekend, exploring the trails of the park and camping out. $11 covers transportation and one evening meal.

The Lansing Swim Association is sponsoring an open swim Monday and Wednesday evenings through March 27 at Harry Hill High School 8 to 9 p.m. Admission is 25 cents per person. In and Around Town appears each Thursday in the Living Today Section. Submit information for your organization's upcoming events to the Living Today department by Monday preceding the Thursday of publication.
