BEARD, CARL L. Grand Ledge Mr. Beard, age 73, passed away Decem ber 15, 1991 at a Delta Township nursing home. He was born April 11, 1918 in Lake Odessa the son of Ernest and Alice (Dur-kee) Beard. He was a graduate of Lake Odessa High School, Class of 1936; veteran of World War II serving with the U.S.

Army Co. 127 Infantry; member of the Cole-Briggs American Legion Post 48 of Grand Ledge; the First United Methodist Church of Grand Ledge; and was a retired employee of Oldsmobile Forge Plant with 42 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Mary 1 son, Kevin E. Beard of East Lansing; 3 daughters and son-in-laws, Kathleen E. and Kim Jenkins of Grand Ledge, Lois E.

and Michael Sealy of Vermontville, Barbara E. and Steven SDencer of Nashville; 13 grand- I children; 2 brothers, Edgar E. Beard of Eaton Rapids and Robert A. Beard of Lake Odessa; 2 sisters, Mary M. Brooke of Lake Odessa and Helen Strong of Spring Arbor; several nieces and nephews.

Louch was a lifelong Lansing resident and a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army. He was formerly employed by Oldsmobile for 34 years. Surviving are his wife, Jean 4 daughters, Susan Beas-ley and Vickie (Ralph) Zischke, all of Lansing, Brenda L. Louch of Holt and Michelle (Carl) Feldpausch of Brighton; 3 stepdaughters, Anne Smith of Owosso, Annette Hanson of Leslie and Glen-da Salisbury of Lansing; 4 stepsons, Jimmy, Roy, Glenn and Paul Melton, all of Lansing; 26 grandchildren; and 1 brother, Harvey Louch of Lansing.

He was born December 31, 1924 in Lansing and had been a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Lansing Central High School and the University of Michigan, School of Engineering. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1950, he joined the family business, Malcolm H.

Milks Automobile Agency, began selling real estate in 1960 and became Onwer and President of Malcolm L. Milks Realtor-Appraiser. He was an instructor of Property Valuation at Lansing Community College; and Residential Property Valuation in the Real Estate Program at University of Michigan. Mr. Milks was a member of the Greater Lansing Board of Realtors; past Chapter President of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers; past Chapter President of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers-Senior Real Property Appraisers; member of the National Association of Realtors; Michigan Association of Realtors; American Arbitration Association; past President of the Lansing Automobile Dealers Association; past State of the Young Executives of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA); past National Vice President of Young Executives NADA; was a member of Lansing City Council, having served as Mayor Pro Tern; member of the Ingham County Board of Supervisors; Michigan State Building Commission; City of Lansing Board of Review; Lansing Board of Public Service; Lansing Board of Water and Light; Lansing Charter Commission; past Director of the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross; past President of the Rotary Club of Lansing; past President of the Lansing Jaycees; past President of the Lansing Area Safety Council; "past President of the City Club of Lansing; "past Commander and of the Club of Michigan; member of Lansing Lodge 33, F.

Plymouth Congregational Church; and was actively involved with many other civic and community affairs. Surviving are his wife, June 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Malcolm Leonard, Jr. and Jeanne Milks of Kauai, HI and-Norman S. and Susan Milks of Seattle, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Milks-Martin and William Martin of Ross, CA; 2 granddaughters, Jesse and Taylor Martin, both of Ross, CA; grandson, Damon Em-linger of Seattle, WA; sister and brother-in-law, Margery and John P. Schnell of West Olive, MI; a niece and 2 nephews.

Religious services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Patrick D. Shelley and he Rev. Donald A.

Wenstrom, Pastor Emeritus of Pilgrim Congregational Church (UCC), at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 1991 at 9 great aunts; 2 great uncles; 8 aunts; 6 uncles; a host of cousins; numerous other relatives; and many friends. Services will be held 11:30 a.m. at Trinity A.M.E. Church, 3500 Holmes Road, Lansing, on December 19, 1991, where family hour will be from 11 a.m.

until service time. Graveside services will be immediately following services, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery. DAYS, LLOYD Lansing Age 79, died Sunday, December 15, 1991. He was born June 23, 1912 the son of Harry and Matilda Days in Kings-ley, MI. He lived in the Lansing area since 1937 and worked in various Lansing garages as a Mechanic.

He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma; a brother, James; and a daughter, Judy Bar-naby. He is survived by 3 sons, Roger (Kath-ryn) of Illinois, Lloyd C. (Judy) of De Witt and James (Christina) of Holt; a son-in-law, James Barnaby of Lansing; a brother, Perry (Audrey) of Kingsley; a sister, Mabel (John) Ellison of Florida; a sister-in-law, Marie Days of Kingsley; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m.

at the Palmer-Bush Lansing Chapel with Rev. Wade Panse of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

at the Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Michigan United Conservation Clubs or a charity of one's own choice. LUTHER, JEANNE E. Mason Age 60, died December 15, 1991. She was born January 4, 1931 in Lansing.

Jeanne was formerly employed with the State of Michigan. She was an avid golfer and bowler; and an active member of Ingham Medical Center Volunteer Group. Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Gerald; 2 daughters, Mrs. William (Janet) Wolff of East Lansing and Amy Luther of Mason; 1 son, Mark Luther of Lansing; 1 granddaughter, Anna Zoe; 2 brothers, Harry (Hildred) Saxman of Watervliet and Richard Saxman of East Lansing; 1 sister, Mrs. Ronald (Helen) Butts of Florida; brother-in-law, Edward (Nancy) Davis of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 1 1 a.m. Wednesday at St. many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Company, East Chapel, East Lansing with the Rev.

Dr. Richard E. Murdoch, Senior Pastor of Peoples Church, officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the East Chapel Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.

Surviving are her children, Sondra Schnipke of Lansing, Michael Freeman of Lansing, Cheryl Hammond of Indonesia; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. Private services were held. Arrangements by the Estes-Leadley Holt Delhi Chapel. FLADSETH, MILDRED J. Formerly of Port Charlotte, FL Age 81, Mrs.

Fladseth passed away December 15, 1991, 4 months after returning to Michigan from Florida for health reasons. Mrs. Fladseth was born June 23, 1910 in Casselton, ND the second of 2 children born to Smith and Annie Stimmel. Her father was a veteran of the Civil War, serving in the Union Army at the White House as a member of President Abraham Lincoln's Personal Mounted Escort. Mrs.

Fladseth lived in Lansing with her husband, Floyd and family from 1944 until 1979. She and Floyd retired to Port Charlotte, FL in 1979. Mrs. Fladseth was especially fond of children and served as a Sunday School Teacher as well as Child Care Giver for many families over the years. The focus of her attention was always on other people, and what she could do for them.

Her favorite words were "Thank you," which she spoke often for any kindness extended to her. Her husband, Floyd, preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by a brother, Howard Stimmel of Greenfield, MA; 4 sons, LeRoy of Lansing, Floyd C. of Englewood, FL, Robert of Long Beach, CA and Kenneth of Grand Island, NE. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Fladseth was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Lansing. The family is being served by the Tiffany Funeral Home, with services scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, at the Funeral Home; her pastor. Dr.

E. Donald King, along with longtime friend of the family, Dr. Harold DeMott, Pastor of Lansing South Church of the Nazarene, will preside. Interment will be at the Glendale Cemetery in Okemos. Friends desiring to honor the memory of Mrs.

Fladseth are invited to do so by plac where the family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday, 7-9 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. COTTER, JAMES R. Pewamo Age 71, died December 15, 1991 at his home in Pewamo. He was born in Capac, MI on March 27, 1920 the son of James R.

and Veronica (Kramer) Cotter. He is survived by wife, Mary; 1 son, James (Kim) Cotter of Grand Ledge; 2 daughters, Ann (Chris) Gar-litz of Lansing and Colleen (Neal) Hoffman of Pewamo; 3 grandchildren, Megan and Joel Hoffman, and Margo Cotter, mother, Veronica Cotter of Pewamo; brother, John Cotter of Pewamo. He retired from the Pewamo Westphalia Schools as a Guidance Counselor. He was dedicated to education and working with young people. He was a member of St.

Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, and a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. The Rosary will be recited at 3 and 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at St. Marys Chapel, Westphalia.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo with Rev. Fr. Joseph Pettit officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pewamo. Casket-bearers will be: Michael Cotter, Jack Cotter, Timothy Wood, Michael McCrackin, Thomas McCrackin and Douglas Proctor. The family requests that you remember their husband-father by the words he chose to live by. Arrangements are being conducted by the Neller Funeral Home, Portland. SMITH, MARGARET GLEASON East Lansing Age 73, died December 13, 1991 at her home. Born December 6, 1918 in Des Moines, IA, Mrs. Smith received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State College at Ames, IA. She moved to Michigan in 1949 and was a resident of Jack IS sw -ftp, dm son and Detroit before moving to the Lansing area in 1955.

She received her M.A. Degree from MSU in 1968 and joined the faculty of the American Thought and Language where she was employed until her retirement in 1979. Surviving are her husband, Gordon C. of East Lansing; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn D. and Carol Miller of Centreville, VA; 2 grandchildren, Edward Miller of Arlington, VA and Jessica Miller of Centreville, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Lynn E.

and Genevieve Gleason of Asheville, NC. She was a member of Unity of Greater Lansing where a memorial service will be held at the Unity Church on Wednesday, December 18, 3 p.m. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to contribute to charity in memory of Mrs. Smith.

The family was served by the Gosline-Runciman Company, East Chapel, East Lansing. HOLMES, EVERT A. Fife Lake, MI Bradenton, FL Formerly of Lansing Age 85, died in Bradenton. He was born in Calumet on October .24, 1905, the son of John and Eva Holmes. He married Cleo A.

Arndt and they celebrated their 50th anniversary before her death in 1979. He was a man who loved the outdoors and especially loved to fish. He spent summers in Fife Lake and winters in Bradenton. He is greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Laura (Woods); 1 son, Kenneth R.

(Linda) Holmes of Urbana, IL; 2 daughters, Billie J. (Ernest) Zetzman, Jr. of Fife Lake and Bonnie B. (J. Mark) Har-gitt of Lansing; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 6 step children and families.

A memorial service was conducted by his family in the Chapel at Deepdale Memorial Park. DOYLE, ELIZABETH A. East Lansing Age 83, died December 15, 1991. Born May 3, 1908 in Dearborn, Mrs. Doyle was a resident of East Lansing for 50 years.

She was a waitress for many years at the Hotel Olds and Jack Tar. She was a member and volunteer for East Lansing Older People's Program (E.L.O.P.). Preceding her in death was her husband, George J. (1986). Surviving her are 1 daughter, Jane Murray of Sturgis; 1 brother, Edwin Gilbert of Traverse City; 3 sisters, Dorothy Olsen of Novi, Geraldine Simpson of Livonia and Marguerite Gray of Traverse City; and ABM vOv i James Catholic Church, 1010 S.

Williams retired from Lundberg Screw in 1972 where he was the Union Steward and Chairman of the 724 Retirees. He was a member and former Trustee of Judson Memorial Baptist Church and Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Williams served in the Conservation Corps during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Peggy; 3 sons, Kerry (Kathy) Williams of Holt, Ronnie (Sue) Williams of Minnesota and Stanley (Connie) Williams of Wisconsin; 3 stepsons, Richard (Bonnie) Hal-stead of Marshall, Douglas (Jo) Halstead and Russel Halstead, all of Mason; 17 grandchildren; 1 brother, Mickey Williams of Washington.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Company, Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. Thomas G. Bayes, Pastor of Judson Memorial Baptist Church, and the Rev. Garold Boatwright, Pastor of New Life Church of God, Holt, officiating.

Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Okemos. The family will receive friends at the Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Kidney Foundation in memory of Mr. Williams. LYNDE, LARRY D.

Perry SR. Age 50, died December 15, 1991. Larry was born August 27, 1941 in Perry the son of Melvin and Bernice (Haney) Lynde; graduated from Perry High School; married Lois A. Lowrie on November 14, 1969 in Houghton Heights; was self-employed in the body shop and farming businesses; and had resided his entire life in the Perry area. Surviving are his wife, Lois Lynde; son, Scott (Sue) Lynde; daughter, Robyn Lynde; granddaughter, Heidi Lynde; sister, Linda Hauser; 2 half-brothers, Arnold and Frank Lynde; 1 half-sister, Plymouth Congregational Church, corner of Grand River and North Fairview with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Joseph Moyer, Frank Perrin, Paul Stoppert, Lloyd Kirby, Romayne Hicks, Lee MacGillivray, Charles Larsen and Fred Stuckenberg. Honorary pallbearers will be: past Presidents of the Lansing Jaycees. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and Mr. Milks will lie-in-state at the Church from 1:30 p.m.

until service time on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Club of Lansing Foundation or to the University of Michigan Alumni Scholarship Fund, in memory of Malcolm L. Milks. PIDDINGTON, GRACE E. Lansing Age 82, passed away on December 15, 1991.

She was born in Deco-ven, KY on August 11, 1909 and had lived in Lansing for most of her life. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church; and was formerly active in square dancing. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1981. Surviving are son, Gregory nieces, Marjorie Allen of Mor-ganfield, KY, Debra K. Sullivan of Lansing and Betsy D.

Rumley of Wyandotte. Religious services will be conducted by The Rev. James M. Gysel, of Central United Methodist Church, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 1991 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in Deepdale Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be J.O. Allen, Tom Johns, Ja-meison Rumley and John Sullivan. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. ROBERTS IV, ARTHUR Devoted and loving son of Arthur and Joyce was born on August 30, 1968 in Chicago, IL.

He attended Wood Creek Elementary School, Dwight Rich Middle School, Sexton High School and Central Michigan University. Arthur was a member of South Baptist Church in Lansing, where he was baptized. Arthur was a loving and caring person, always willing to help anyone. He gave from his heart never asking or expecting anything in return. His love of life and others was visible in his life.

Arthur's dynamically generous personality and sweet spirit made it easy for him to acquire many friends and friendships. Arthur enjoyed many sports, among them were football, basketball, racquetball and soccer. Arthur departed this life and passed on to Eternal Life on December 13, 1991. Arthur leaves to cherish him with fond memories his loving parents, Arthur and Joyce; a sister, Tracie; a niece, Christiane; a grandmother, Ruth L. Roberts of Naperville, IL; 1 great great aunt; HARSH, COL.

KEITH ROLAND, U.S.A. (Ret.) Lansing Age 68, passed away Sunday morning, December 15, 1991 after suffering a massive heart attack. A resident of Lansing, Col. Harsh retired from military service after serving in the 82nd Airborne for 30 years. He was a combat veteran of World War II and Korea.

He was decorated with the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit and two Purple Hearts. His last tour of duty was Senior Army Advisor of the Michigan National Guard from 1968-1972. In retirement, he was a partner with Design. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean Harsh, daughter of Ira Durbin Snouffer of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Sandra Cook of Houston, TX; son, Michael of Athens, GA; daughter, Jannine Alexander of Lansing; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

at the Palmer-Bush Delta Chapel. Services will be held Thursday, December 19, 1991 at 11:30 a.m. at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with burial immediately to follow. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St.

Vincent Children's Home. MARR, LAURA E. Lansing Age 80, died December 15, 1991. Born April 6, 1911 in Cohoc-ton, NY, Mrs. Marr was a Lansing resident for 56 years.

Predeceased by her husband, Norman, in 1968, she is survived by 2 sons, Robert G. of Lansing and Ronald D. (Cheryl) of Portland; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Paul Moore of Constantine; and 3 sisters, Ruth Voketz of Lansing, Martha Goldy of Lapeer and Hazel Oppdenhoff of Ponti-ac. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2:30 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Company, Lansing Chapel, with the Rev.

David L. Johnston, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Deepdale Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Chapel beginning Tuesday, 7 p.m..
