The Oz puppets arc only a few of the hundreds which have been designed, carved and sewn since 1950 when Reed first began touring professionally. An innovator in puppeteering, Heed substituted hand and rod puppets when the string puppets didn't behave the way he wished. When the young aduiences became restless during intermissions for scene changes, he devised a double stage which allowed the action to flow con-tinuousy from one scene to the next. The company has played in college, community and professional theaters from New York to Denver, and Reed has also designed and produced shows for television. tfllCCC pug.
