Lone Rttk-Swea Cily Pair Wed PEGGY PETTIT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Pettit of Lone Rock, and Wayne Preston, son of Mr. and Howard Preston of Seneca, were married Saturday, Jan. 20 in the Presbyterian church at Lone Rock.

They are shown above. A complete wedding story can be found on page 1 of the second section of today's Advance. Four Corner club to meet February 8 The Four Corner Mother Daughter club met Jan. llth at the Veterans Memorial building with Minnie Walker and Irene Bjustrom hostesses. Bev.

Kuecker and Irene ren had the program. They showed a film entitled "Enjoy Eating Pork" which showed a variety of ways to preserve and prepare cuts of pork. Maude Robinson read a New Year poem for Club Cheer. The next meeting will be on Feb. 8 with Eula Rich.

Janice Lindhorst is assisting hostess. Roll call will be "What I'd Do With a 25th Hour In a Day." Herlinda Kirsch and Minnie Walker will present the program. Rose Sabin will give club cheer. Jan. 16th the club had a farewell pot luck supper at the Whittemore Lutheran school for Mr.

and Mrs. Lester Walker, who recently moved to the Emmetsburg area. They were presented with a gift. The evening was spent at cards. Laurence Kirsch and Loretta Broesder were high point winners and Henry Schultz and Marlys Bjustrom low point winners.

Gladys Eisenbarth and Eula Rich were hostesses and Ruth Arend and Svelyn Me- Neill had the program. Land Bank stockholders meeting dated Some 300 farmers and wives from Kossuth County are expected to attend the annual stockholders' meeting of the Federal Land Bank Association of Algona, at the Burt High School Gymnasium, in Burt, Iowa, on Wednesday evening, February 7, 1968. The 6:30 P.M. dinner will be followed by entertainment and business session. Dean Raber, Assistant to the President on The federal Land Bank of Omaha, will address the gathering.

Reports on association activities for the past year will be given by President Hugh Black, Algona, and Manager E. H. Hutchins. Two directors will be elected to three-year terms on the association Board of Directors. The Algona Association makes and services long-term Federal Land Bank loans in Kossuth County and is entirely owned by the farmers it serves.

Directors of the association are Hugh Black, President, and Robert Deal, Algona; Leander Menke, Swea City; Donald Usher, Ottosen; and Marvin Junkermeier, Elmore, Mumesota. Irvington By Mao McLean The 500 card club, which was played at three tables, was held and entertained by Mrs. Evelyn Froehlich at her home Sunday at which prizes went to 'Robert Mayer, travel; the Vernie high; and the Harold Thills, low. The Steve Canadays accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.

John Jennings and Gloria Canaday, drove to Shenandoah last Friday to visit the Don Jennings family. They returned here Sunday "Robert Casey, Ray-Metze'n the Veterans Hospital, Des Moines last week Tuesday to see Wilbur Metzen, who has been seriously ill but is now improving. They also visited Glen Rike, Algona, businessman, who has been at the hospital several weeks. Bill Boldridge, student at University of Northern Iowa, spent several days semester break with his parents, the William Boldridges, Algona, last week. Thad Wickwire, St.

Petersburg, is now recuperating at home after being hospitalized with a severe heart condition. He is the father of Wayne Wickwire. Mrs. Clarence Siemer of this area and her sister, 'Mrs. Helen Hanig of Ackley, left from Ackley by train Thursday for Gainesville, Fla, where they will visit a brother, Mr.

and Mrs. Julian Arndorfer and also the Siemer's daughter Vicky, who has been in Florida for sometime and has a job there. The ladies plan to be gone about two weeks. The Victor Applegates, Ahies, were Sunday visitprs at the Lawrence Millers. Mr.

and Mrs. Gerald Cole- map and Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Potter and the Toby Eastmans attended funeral services Monday for Mrs. Henry Eastman at Britt; The deceased is Toby's grandmother.

Goehes host Greenwood Boys The January meeting of the Greenwood Boys was held at the- home of Dean Goche. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Francis Stork. Roll call was swered by twenty five, members. New business included handing out record book terials and deciding on wjiether to have a basketball team. A talk was given by Paul Elesbecker on the "Characteristics of a Manager" and a demonstration by Francis Stork on "Grooming and Fitting a Calf." The meeting was closed with the 4-H pledge led by Dale Person.

Reporter, John Bor- marm. SERVICE Mrs. G. H. Maxon Jewell was honored recently for her 30 years of service on the social welfare board in Hamilton county.

Upon her retirement she was presented with a painting of her borne. Car, truck collide but minor injury James M. Schmidt, 24 of Lone Rock, was treated for a head laceration at- St. Ann hospital and then released on Monday morning after his truck collided with a car driven by Mrs. Henry Butler, 30 of Estherville, on, highway 18 about seven miles west of Algona.

'Schmidt was taken to St. Ann hospital by ambulance but his injury was not serious. He was driving an egg truck he owned, and was traveling south on the Lotts Creek blacktop. The Estherville car was going east and when the truck was unable to stop at the stop sign and skidded onto the highway, it was struck broadside by the car. The station wagon was a total loss while the truck was knocked on its side and sustained $700 in damage.

Patrolman Charles Bird investigated. The Estherville woman and her small son were not injured. A LUVERNE man, Tom Capesius, 20, escaped injury when his car struck two steers on the blacktop two miles north and three west of Lu- Verne Saturday night about 9 p.m. It was extremely foggy at the time of the accident. Capesius was traveling north when he saw two steers owned by Leo Bormann on the road in front of him.

It was too late to stop and his car hit the animals, killing one and injuring the other. The car, which went into the east ditch, had about $700 estimated damage according to Deputy Sheriff Eppo Buiten, who was called to investigate. A BANCROFT youth suffered facial lacerations when his car skidded into a tree on the Potter Hill Drive a mile south of Algona about 10 p.m. last Friday night on a county blacktop. Stephen, J.

Schiltz, 22 of Bancroft, was. treated at St. Ann for cuts and the 1962 Chevrolet he was driving and by his mother Margaret Schiltz had about $600 in He was going downhill on the blacktop and lost control and skidded into the ditch.
