Lansing State Journal Sunday, March 9, 2003 5B DEATHS FUNERALS More death notices on 2B For paid obituary notices, call 377-1104 Bakita, Anna Ashley, MI Died peacefully on March 1, 2003, in North Carolina, where she spent her past several winters. Born on June 27, 1917, to James and Sophie Hejl in Ovid, MI, She graduated class valedictorian from Ovid High School in 1934. Anna married John Bakita of Bannister, MI, on October 6, 1934. He preceded her in death, suddenly on May 6, 1965. They were blessed with eight children.

Their daughter, Mary (Allan) Houghton, preceded her in death on February 28, 1986. Surviving children John Bakita and wife, Pat, Huntersville, NC; Joe Bakita, of Clearwater, FL; Jim Bakita and wife, Karen, of Bannister; Stan Bakita and wife, Betty, of Grand Rapids; Margaret Hendrick and husband, Ken, of Lansing; Philip Bakita, of Ashley; and Dan Bakita and wife, Gayle, of Mattawan. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, who she dearly loved. Her brothers, Jim and Joe; sisters, Mary and Emma and their spouses also preceded her in death, as well as her husband's brothers, sisters and their spouses and a nephew. One sister-in-law, Josephine Bakita Stambersky, of Dearborn survives along with many nephews and nieces through four generations.

Anna was a well organized individual who started working with the Michigan Department of Social Services later in life, retiring in 1980 as a section supervisor. She was an avid reader, often reading a book a day. loved animals, especially cats. She has been cremated in North Carolina. A funeral mass is planned on April 5 at 11:00 AM at St.

Cyril's Catholic Church in Bannister. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Catholic Mission of your choice, your local Humane Society or the charity of your choice. made to the Capitol Area Humane Society will be greatly appreciated. Hasting, Louise M. Delta Township Mrs.

Louise M. Hastings, age 90, passed away March 6, 2003 in Lansing, MI. She a born December 1, 1912 in Grand Ledge, MI, daughter to Walter and Inez (Marvin) Goodnoe. Louise enjoyed playing piano. She is survived by her 2 sons, Edward L.

(Diane) and Duane R. (Jody B. Ames), both of Lansing; daughter, Lorraine M. (Roc Simmons of Durango, CO; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 1 brother, Karl (Thelma) Goodnoe of Williamston; and was predeceased by her husband, Clifton; 2 sons, Donald and Frank; and daughter, Joyce. Taylor was the owner and operator of Max's Auto Painting for 22 years. He was an avid pool player and along with his wife, collected and restored antique toys and peddle cars. He was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Catherine Taylor; brother, Ken; and sister, Judy Gentile. Surviving are his wife, Clara daughter, Lisa (Shawn) VanSteeland of Holt; 1 granddaughter, Faith; 1 brother, Gary (Kathy) Taylor of Dothan, AL; 1 sister, Aurelia Jean (Bill) Dexter of Lakeview, MI; brotherin-law, John (Pamela) Gray of Mason; father-in-law, Edward (Marcella) Gray of Mason; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 11, at Noon at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing with Casket Bearers, Bob Secord, Paul Ripley, Hyde, Roger Sneden, Bill Dexter, Jr. and Gary Linn.

Richmond, Naomi Lansing, MI Formerly of Detroit, MI Mrs. Richmond, age 77, passed away March 6, 2003. She was a retired Registered Nurse from Metropolitan Clinic of Detroit. Survivors include: her son, Carey (Sheila) Richmond, daughter, Carolyn (Charles) Terry; 4 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
