TOM ROBERTS Associated Press On a roll: Bruce Branch (1) of Penn State eludes Illinois tackier Carey Davis (right) while running back a punt for a touchdown. The Nittany Lions also returned a kickoff for a score but lost to the Illini.

Associated Press CHAMPAIGN, 111. Rocky Harvey scored on a 13-yard run with 1:19 remaining and No. 15 Illinois intercepted four passes in a 33-28 victory over Penn State on Saturday. Illinois (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) won despite allowing two kickoff returns for touchdowns, the last a 97-yard run by Larry Johnson with 3:29 remaining to give Penn State a 28-27 lead. After the Johnson touchdown, Illinois went on a nine-play, 80-yard drive that ended on Harvey's scoring run.

Illinois rushed for 184 yards, led by Antonineo Harris' 93 yards on 20 carries. Harvey finished the game with 11 rushes for 51 yards and two touchdowns. The Illini, who trailed 21-7 at the half, appeared to have the game in hand after scoring 20-straight points in the second half. Cornerback Eugene Wilson had three of Illinois' four interceptions. His third, a one-handed grab that he returned 29 yards to the Penn State 15, set up a 31-yard field goal by Peter Christofilakos to give Illinois a 24-21 lead.

Christofilakos then made a 30-yard field to give Illinois a 27-21 lead. The Illinois offense struggled early for the second straight week. On its first possession, receiver Brandon Lloyd had a defender beat on a deep pass but dropped the ball at midfield. Illinois quarterback Kurt Kittner, who threw three first half interceptions a week ago against Purdue, missed on 12 of his first 15 pass attempts and threw two interceptions in the opening half. Kittner finished 16-of-33 for 195 Mills left the game following the scoring drive with a sprained ankle.

His backup, Matt Senneca was 6-of-23 for 52 yards and three interceptions. Iowa 59, Northwestern 16 EVANSTON, 111. Jeremy Allen scored three touchdowns and Kahlil Hill caught six passes for 133 yards Saturday as Iowa routed Northwestern. The Hawkeyes (3-4 Big Ten, 5-4) kept their bowl hopes alive by dominating the Wildcats, scoring on their Kyle McCann and Brad Banks, used the tough running of Ladell Betts and Aaron Greving and got big returns and catches from Hill to completely control the game. Ohio State 35, Purdue 9 COLUMBUS, Ohio Steve Bel-lisari threw three touchdown passes, and Ohio State's defense intercepted three passes and forced two safeties as the Buckeyes beat Purdue.

Ohio State (4-2 Big Ten, 6-3) can still share the conference title by winning its final two games. The Buckeyes play host to Illinois, then play at rival Michigan. Bellisari has been booed at home all season for his mediocre performances. For the second straight game, however, he seemed to make all the right moves. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 263 yards without an interception.

His touchdown throws all in the second half covered 53 yards to Michael Jenkins, 13 yards to Ben Hartsock, and 7 yards to Chris Vance. Vance had the biggest receiving day of his career, catching seven passes for 138 yards. Jonathan Wells carried 21 times for 101 yards and a touchdown. Northwestern (2-5, 4-5), playing without the school's leading career rusher Damien Anderson, who has a dislocated shoulder, lost its fourth straight. The Wildcats, beaten 56-21 at Indiana last week, were blown out for a second week in a row as their defense was no match for the Hawk-eyes' offense, which rolled up 588 yards. Washington 32, UC Davis 30 Washington St 2 Arizona St 1 6 Albion captures MI A A crown Jackson's four TDs lift CMU Associated Press MOUNT PLEASANT Terrence Jackson scored four touchdowns, including two less than four minutes apart in the second quarter, to lead Central Michigan to a 35-30 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The win breaks a four-game losing streak for Central (2-5 MidAmerican, 3-6). After opening the scoring in the second to take a brief 7-0 lead, the only real Eastern (14, 2-7) threat came in the fourth after Kainoa Aki-na threw two touchdown passes in less than two minutes to put the Eagles within five. Akina threw a 25-yard pass to Kevin Walter at 7:25, then an 11-yard pass to Terrance Lloyd to close Central's lead to 28-23.

But Jackson scored his final touchdown at 5:36, on a 58-yard run, to make it 35-23 Chippewas. Jackson finished with 207 yards rushing. His first touchdowns came in the second, after a scoreless first quarter, on a 4-yard run at 9:50 to tie it 7-7. He put the Chippewas up for good with a 31-yard touchdown run at 6:03 of the second. Eastern's Akina threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Chris Archer with two minutes left in regulation to round out the scoring and finish the game with 288 yards passing.
