State Mutual Expands Insurance Operations The State Mutual Fire Insurance company of Michigan, whose home office is at Flint, will operate as a general mutual company effective July 1, according to announcement made today by H. K. Fisk, secre tary of the company. The company, which on June 15 is completing 44 years of service to iarmers throughout the state, will now be authorized to write windstorm and hail as well as fire insurance on both farm and urban properties, according to Mr. Fisk.

Reports Confiscating 500,000 lbs. in State; Area Store Included The bureau of marketing and enforcement of the Michigan department of agriculture in the Dast 90 days has stooped sale or seized more than 500,000 pounds of potatoes which did not meet department size, label or quality requirements, it was learned Tues day.

Miles A. Nelson, chief of the en forcement bureau, said that the latest sale stoppage occurred at a suburban grocery near Lansing Monday. "This store was selling potatoes which 'were considerably smaller than golf balls," the enforcement chief said. "They were brought in from Alabama, and we haven't been able to track, down the wholesaler yet." He said the potatoes did not meet the minimum state requirements for the retail market. The law requires potatoes to grade at least S.

2-B" or better, which means the diameter must be at least one and one-half inch at the smallest point, Mr. Nelson said. "Since this potato shortage developed a couple of months aeo. wholesalers have been moving just about anything that answers the description oi a potato," Mr. Nelson said.

"We've really had to be on our toes to clamp down on tnese illegal sales." Losses were not as large as in the previous session. Selling represented a continuation of the liquidation Of yesterday. It sufficed to send July and Sep tember wheat te new seasonal lows, which meant a new bottom on the winter wheat crop since it was planted.

Wheat in early hours was to cent lower, July corn was to cent lower, July $1.81, and oats were to cent lower, July 75 Soybeans were to one cent lower, July 53.09, and lard was 10 to 23 cents a hundred pounds lower, July J12.22.
