It was the second exhibition victory in as many nights for the K-WLngs, who will begin regular-season play Saturday at Fort Wayne.

Meadmore broke a tie at 2 with his first goal at 11:16 of the middle period. He tallied again at 17:02 to make the score 3-2. Boris Fistric and Rob Plumb added third-period goals for Kalamazoo. Jean Chouinard and Steve Marengere scored the K-Wings' first two goals. Kalamazoo outshot Muskegon by a lopsided count of 44-16.

Prior to the game, K-Wings General Manager-Coach Doug McKay released four players: goaltenders Doug Nowels and Andrew Rewucki and right wingers Craig Howie and Chuck Pappas. The cuts left the K-Wings with 18 players, including 2 goalies, Georges Gagnon and Claude Legris. They divided the goaltending duties Wednesday, each playing 30 minutes. Both goals came against Gagnon. To make room for Smith, the Red Wings dropped Dennis Polonich from their protected list. Boston opted instead for an undisclosed amount of cash as compensation for losing Smith. Detroit was the third team to make its election in the draft, in which teams choose in the reverse order of their finish the previous season. The Colorado Rockies opened the draft by taking right wing Yvon Vautour from the Stanley Cup champion New York Islanders. The Winnipeg Jets had second choice, but passed.

All teams passed on the second round. Only five players were chosen. Among the other three was Danny Geof-frion, son of Hall of Famer Bernie Geof-frion, who went from Montreal to Quebec. PASSING Player, Team Att Com Pet. Yds TD 341 0 Alsobrooks, St.
