Roberts will direct the campaign, attending to all the office work and having as assistants many Lansing women' who will canvass the city and take charge of the street sales.

Members of the society will receive a tag for which adults will pay 50 cents and children 25. The campaign will be conducted during the entire week in Lansing, but will only be taken up for one day in the towns outside. All teachers in the county have been informed as to the work of the society and will talk to the school children who will take the matter up in their homes. Very good co-operation is expected from the churches and the society hopes to have the second drive enable them to carry out all of the coming season's plans. Dakota which was displaced by Michigan as the largest rye producing state and Washington lost its place as largest apple producing state to New York. 4.9. 8,000,000 CASES OF TYPHUS IN RED RUSSIA NEW YORK. By A. P. More than 8,000,000 cases of typhus havo been reported in sovletj Russia with a mortality as high as 50 per cent in some communities, said a report by Dr.

Harry Plotz of this city, head of a Jewish medical nnjt operating in Poland. just male public by the American Jewish relief committee. In addition to typhus, the report stated, that Russia has been swept by cholera during the last two years. In Petrograd there was a total of 12,000 cases with a mortality of 40 per cent and cholera has broken out in some parts of Poland after the entry of Russian refugees. Dr.

Plotz's report dealt particularly with health conditions in Poland which he declared to be "still distressing." He outlined plans, which have the approval of the Polish government, for reestablishing public baths throughout the country.
