Enquirer and News, Battle Creek, May 2, 1976 Stone-Bassage Arlene M. Bassage of 105 Winding Way and James D. Stone of 150 Frelinghuysen Ave. were married Saturday in St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Allen Bassage of Marshall and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs.

James M. Stone of Drayton Plains. Mrs. Kay T. Phares was the bride's matron of honor and David Stone, brother of the groom, was his best man.

The bride graduated from Michigan State University and is an elementary teacher in the Battle Creek Public Schools. The groom, a graduate of Oakland University, is district executive for Calhoun County of the Southwest Regional Council of the Scouts of America. MRS. JAMES D. STONE MRS.

Miss Cathy Hyslop, sister of the bride, was her maid of honor and William Monroe of Climax, brother of the groom, was his best man. The bride graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and is employed as a personnel clerk by the Defense Property Disposal Service at the Battle Creek Federal Center. The groom, a graduate of Richland High School, attended Ferris State and Kellogg Community colleges and is a traffic management supervisor for the Michigan Air National Guard. The couple will reside at 12151 E.

Richland, after a trip to Sugar Island and Milwaukee, Wis. Monroe-Hyslop Plum Susan Lynn Ross and Thomas John Plummer were married Saturday in Sonoma United Methodist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas E.

Ross of 5481 S.W. Capital Ave. and the groom is the son of Mrs. Elmer Farrington of 151 Dundee Drive and Tennis Plummer of 351 N. 29th St.

Mrs. Robert Vermillion of Carbondale, cousin of the bride, was her matron of honor, and Edward Plummer was his brother's best man. The bride graduated from the University of Michigan and is employed by Post Division, General Foods Corp. The groom attended Kellogg Community College and is employed by the Kellogg Co. After a trip to Nassau in the Bahamas, the newlyweds will reside at 9948 E.

Baseline Road. McMillon-Nelson Emmett Street Missionary Church was the scene of the wedding Saturday of Dawn Louise Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Nelson of 19150 11-Mile Road, and Gary Lynn McMillon, son of Mr.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Robert R. Selway Jr. of Riverside, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs.

Russell Hastings Jr. of Battle Creek. Mrs. Michael Hamilton of Anaheim, was the bride's matron of honor, and Robert C. Williams of University City, was the groom's best man.

The bride, a graduate of Riverside Polytechnic High School and Stanford University, received a master's degree in journalism from Boston University and is a feature writer for the Boston Herald American. The groom, a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, received a master's degree in electrical engineering from MIT and is a consulting software engineer for the Digital Equipment Corp. in Maynard, Mass. and Mrs. Virgil Shivley of 188 North Ave. will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary at an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. next Sunday at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.

Gary Shivley of 128 Morningside Drive. Cohosts are their other sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Shivley of Camden, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs.

Don Shivley and Mr. and Mrs. Kirke Shivley of Battle Creek. There are 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The former Ethel Hodges and Shivley were married May 6, 1926, in Youngstown, Ohio.

The family moved to Battle Creek in 1941 when he was assigned by the Army to Ft. Custer. He retired in 1946 as a master sergeant in the Army after 30. years in the military, including service in the Navy and Marines in addition to the Army. He then was employed for several years by Michigan Carton Co.

He is a member of VFW Post 8715 and his wife is a member of the VFW MR. AND MRS. VIRGIL SHIVLEY Auxiliary. They returned to Battle Creek in March after residing in Florida for 1 15 years. The family requests that there be no gifts.
