Taurus (April 20-May 20): Choose your battles carefully.

You won't agree with all you hear, but that doesn't mean you have to speak out against it. Gemini (May 21-June 21) You appreciate discreet people, the type who respect your privacy and are only as interested in you as you want them to be. Cancer (June22-July22): You'll spend time with the one who gets your style, taste and language. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22): Look beyond what people are doing and into what they are feeling, because understanding the emotions of a situation will be more important than understanding the logistics of it.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You'll be changed by what you take on, especially if you fall in love with it in the process. Libra (Sept. 23-Oct.

23): You strive to contribute to a healthy, functional environment even when faced with largely dysfunctional elements. Scorpio (Oct. 24-Nov. 21) You usually regard yourself as a pronoun, but today you feel more like a verb. You are action personified.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21 The one who understands you doesn't need an explanation, and your explanation will not make a difference to the one who doesn't understand you. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan.

19) The way you dress will change the dynamics of a situation. As Mark Twain said, "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society." Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): You may suddenly feel self-conscious in a relationship or have the overall sense that it's not working.

You know the goal, and you know the obstacle, and it's not enough. Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) Some things may be hard perhaps the best and most important things but not everything. Embrace what's easy. Today's birthday (July 27): You don't expect the world to comply with your standards, but you do everything possible to create the world you want.

A project will be carried through by your strength and will in August. With the expansion of your personal property comes increased responsibility. Your lucky numbers are: 10, 3, 33, 38 and 42. POKER 111 112 113 TT9 "126 "129 ASK AMY CHESS: A KNIGHT'S TOUR A mystery game for Choosing between exes for business VEsVaEBBflflBBBBBBBBBul Dear Amy: My husband and I use a management company to manage rental properties we own. The company originally was owned by two guys. Last year, the guys split up and divided the clients between them. I handle almost all contact with the management company and have no problem with the person we are working with.

However, my husband thinks the other guy does better work. We are about to purchase more properties, and my husband wants to have them managed by the other guy. How do I handle this? I feel like I'm going to have to call our guy and say my husband wants to use the other Matt Jarvis' hand the ages brightest stars face off with the feisty Sicilian Defense set-up. B) The usual 3.d4, the Open Sicilian, is delayed, giving both players the option of keeping the game closed. C) This move, restraining black's expansion, is seen occasionally at high master levels, partially to narrow the number of prepared lines by Black.

Even so, it does weaken some White squares, b4 in particular. D) Opening up after all. E) This Dragon Defense line has not scored well against top GMs, but it has produced decent results against lesser-lights. F) Other logical choices were Qd2, h3, and f4. G) This awkward-looking move has seldom been used; probably the surprise that White prepared for Black.

f4and Qd2 are usual. H) This knight's return doesn't lose time since Black's Bishop will make an extra move also. I) A lot of positional players such as American Champion Gata Kamsky like this kind of game. White has a space advantage which he simply solidifies. J) A very entertaining intra to some hot tactical give-and-take.

K) White has the exchange for a pawn, but his pawn structure is vulnerable and Black's men are active. L) Attempting to restrain White's f-pawn from advancing and aiming to storm kingside with his own pawns. M) 22. Qxe5 23. Bxh7 Kxh7 24.Qxd8-) 23.Rel Qc5 24.

The a-pawn is unstoppable. ccsknightbellsouth.net a Get opponents to play crazy By Bill Cornwall In the early 1900s, a game was allegedly played that contained one of the most spectacular tactical combinations in chess history. Again and again, the ultimate winner offered up his queen freely to his foe.

In each case, though, accepting the "gift" would result in mate. As memorable as it was, many people doubted that it ever happened at all. Edwin Adams, the supposed winner, was considered a rank amateur up against a chess goliath in Carlos Torre Repetto. In addition, Adams was Repetto's friend, chief advocate, and supporter. Many surmised that the tactics were discovered in analysis after the actual game was over.

"Doesn't matter," say others. The game is incredible: Adams Repetto; New Orleans, USA, 1920 l.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 exd4 4.Qxd4 Nc6 5.Bb5 Bd7 6.Bxc6 Bxc6 7.Nc3 Nf6 8.0-0 Be7 9.Nd5 Bxd5 10.exd5 0-0 ll.Bg5 c6 12.C4 cxd5 13.cxd5 Re8 14.Rfel a5 15.Re2 Rc8 16.Rael Qd7 I7.Bxf6 Bxf6 18.Qg4 Qb5 19.QC4 Qd7 20.QC7 Qb5 21.a4 Qxa4 22.Re4 Qb5 23.Qxb7 1-0 Congratulations To the new Pacific Southwest Open Champion Enrico Sevillano, a Philippine Grandmaster living in California. It's so rare to hold the nearly unbeatable nuts, and when it happens, you want to extract as much money as possible. I didn't call because I wanted to act as if I was bluffing. I put in a near-minimum raise of 109,000. An exact min raise would have been 106,000, but I've found that a min raise plus a chip or two from out of position gets people to do crazy things. It worked perfectly here.

Sure enough, Dato reraised to 200,000. Now was the time to merely call. If he was bluffing, great. If he wasn't bluffing, he wouldn't fold the river. The river was 6.

Dato moved all in for 215,000. And of course, I called. HehadA Qv. The thing is, I don't think he needed something as good as A-Q to turn crazy on this hand. I played it the way people perceive a bluff to be played, and sometimes players read that and throw in a bunch of chips when it doesn't make sense to do so.

Plus, once I make that play with a real hand, I can use it as a bluff later. I look back on that hand and know that I'll be able to use that play again. Jarvis is a professional poker player. July 27, 2014 Position No. 4322: White mates in two.

By Matt Jarvis My favorite event at the World Series of Poker is the $5,000 No-Limit Six Max, not only because I won a bracelet taking down that event in 2 Oil but because I like the way action plays on the smaller tables. At no time during the tournament will you have more than six players at any table, thus the name of the event.

That leads to different tactics than you would get at a normal WSOP event with a nine- or 10-person table. It also feels a lot more like the home games most of you play or the hundreds of late-night cash games I've been involved in over the years. I was running pretty well in this year's event. A late hand on Day 2 pushed me into the chip lead going into the final day. Down to 18 players with about 30 minutes left before play ended, I moved to a new table.

I was among the chip leaders, so I wasn't going to do anything crazy. On the button, I picked up A and raised to 17,000. Andrea Dato called from the small blind, and the big blind defended his position. Three-handed, the flop came down Av 7v A. At that point, I could hear angels singing in the back of my head.

Action checked to me. A lot of people would have checked it back here to dis- Andrea Dato's hand A Flop A 7 A Turn River 6 guise their strength, but I wanted to bet. If I had nothing, I would bet. When you have something, you want to bet. In poker parlance, it's called "balancing your range." I bet 19,000, which was somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 of the pot.

Dado check-raised to 45,000. The big blind folded. I called. The turn came out K. I had a top full house.
