WILLIAMS The Northwest Herald CRYSTAL LAKE Police charged four teens this week who they say could be responsible for as many as 50 local vehicle and garage burglaries. Stephen F. Vigil, 17, 1 185 Dover Cliff Way, Crystal Lake, two 14-year-old Crystal Lake boys and a 14-year-old Lake in the Hills boy so far are charged in one Thursday car burglary. But police say the boys likely are responsible for several other burglaries on the south end of town and in the Coventry area.

"These four individuals were responsible for 18 burglaries that were reported to have occurred in the early morning hours of June 12," Crystal Lake Police Lt. Howard Parth said. "Subsequent interviews suggest that these four individuals have been active for the past two months or so with respect to burglaries from vehicles and garages," Parth said. "They well could be responsible for in the area of 50 burglaries. Because there are so many they almost lost track of how many cars they had gone into." The teenagers allegedly took items such as money, cellular phones and radar detectors from Police Crystal Lake Joshua J.

At about 4 a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to the 900 block of Glasgow by a resident who allegedly saw the four offenders inside his 1989 Buick Le Sabre. When the resident approached the car, the boys attempted to flee, Parth said. The resident was able to detain Vigil, he said.

Patrol officers later identified the other three alleged offenders, he said. Vigil was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of essential motor vehicle parts and consumption of alcohol by a minor. The 14-year-olds, who were released to the custody of their parents, will be petitioned to juvenile court on the same charges. As a result of the investigation, they also were charged with a number of offenses, including criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, burglary, theft under $300 and theft over $300. "We suspect that there will be many more additional charges as the investigation continues," Parth said.

89, of McHenry, died Wednesday, June 11. 1997, at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry. He was born Sept. 30, 1907, Wyanet, to Lorenzo D. and Verna (Cate) Hamrick.

In July 1929. he married Marjorie A. Ewing. He was a 1926 graduate of Kewanee High School and at tended Bradley University in Peoria He received his private power pilots license in 1941. In 1943, he entered World War II as a Civilian Army Air Force Glider Instructor at Lamesa Field in Lamesa, In 1944.

he was accepted by the U.S. Navy Reserve as a Specialist in Shipping. Packaging and Material Handling. He was employed at Kewanee Boiler Co. as a supervisor of shipping from 1929 and 1943.

In 1948, he was employed by the Signode Steel Strapping Co. in Chicago as a field engineer. In 1955, he moved to Hedgerow Farm in Woodstock where he was manager of sales engineering, retiring in 1971. He resided in Whispering Oaks in square-foot custom ranch with a walkout basement and brick lanai. It has four bedrooms, three full baths, a great room, family room with 9-foot ceiling and fireplace, study, and master bedroom with a ceiling fan, walk-in closet and separate bath with whirlpool tub.

Irene Tocik WONDER LAKE Irene Tocik, 72, of Sun City, formerly of Wonder Lake, died Tuesday, June 13, 1997, at Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City. She was born June 6, 1925, in Chicago, to Andrew and Mary Pavlacka. On June 8, 1957, in Chicago, she married Rudolph Tocik. She worked at Hydraulics Inc. in McHenry for 1Q years as a kit packer.

She was a member of Holy Name Society, and a member of Christ the King Church in Wonder Lake and St. Clements of Rome Church in Sun City. Survivors include her husband, Dale; a sister, Ann Zdan, of South Chicago, a brother, Edward Pavlacka of Alsip; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Andy, Charlie, Joey and Rudy; and two sisters, Jeri and Mary. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
