The Wbcellrg (Vs TWi haa the foUowing Laat evening we learned the following perOcalaxs of one of the atoat cruel aad eold blooded marders which It baa ever beea our tot to record. The unfortunate victim la this instance was a beauUfol lady of very respectable character, named Maxiaaa aaa is, whose parents live near Limestone, La Marshall county.

Miss Mabsis had beea Urine in tba families of some of the aimers la the vicinity. The supposed murderer la a maa named atbabibl IlABtan, who Is described aa a dark eompiexioaed maa who rtammers somewhat la his speech. Oa Saturday last, July 83, Miaa Mabbis had been at Limestone, and oa bar return stopped at the house of Mr. Knox, which le oa Surli's run, about two miles from Limestone. She left Knox's about noon to go to a aeighbor's, Mr.

AiDxaaoa'a; when she reached Mr. Kaox'a orchard she gathered a few apples in a handkerchief, aad pasted ovor the hill to Stall's run, out of sight. Immediately afterwards Haktht came along and also passed over the hill. After this, Miss Maxbis was never seen alive. In about half an hour Haxtm returned over the hill, passed Kaox'a house, and went to BczxAsn'a tavern on the Wayaeeburgh road, where be said he bad coma from Moundsvilla, and was tired, but as he wished to make an early start In the mo ruins, be would nay for his lodslncs before he went to bed this he did and retired, which was the last seen of him, as he left long before any one was up in the morning.

From Saturday until yesterday morning no search waa made for Miss Mabxis. as by soma means a re port had obtained in tha neighDorhood that Hanm and sue had eloped together. For this, however, there was not the eilghiest ground, as ne had never paid her any attention, and scarcely spoken to her. Yesterday morning her continued absence having excited remark and alarm, a few of the neighbors turned out to look for her, and after a search of leas than ball an hour found her lifeless and mangled body, bear Its evidences of having been reft ef life with ne-compsjuiments of horrible cruelty fearful to contemplate. Tbe supposition is that Hakttk overtook her where she had tat down upon a log to rest, as the handkerchief which contained the applea waa lying; on it.

That her person had been outraged before she was murdeiedwas also evident. The murder waa committed by the side of the public road, from which bar body was dragged tome twenty or tiiirty yards by the feat to a small run, in which it was found. The murder wss committed by heavy of stone or club about the head and breast. The side of her head was broken and one eye knocked out, besides Indications of a number of severe blows upon different parts of her person. astib belongs, we believe, to tbe neighborhood, and bat borne but an indifferent character.

His father was aoma time ago under arrest on charge of committing a fearful crime against nature, but what was done with him we are unable to say. It also appears that Habtbb'b story about having beea at Moui.dtvlllo was altogether untrue. He Is till at large, taough the officers are on the alert for his capture. A CHICAGO PHYSICIAN ATTIlf TTIKG TO MURDER HIS VIM IM THX 8TRCKT. The Cblcago July 28, says At about o'clock last svsnicg there was great excitement created in the ciiy by an exlensivelv circulated story that Dr.

The particulars, as far as we can learn, are as follows: The parties realde in a small frame eottaee, (No, 197 Adams.) which is near the corner of an alley leading from Monroe to Adams.

Thsy both left the house last evening, but not in comeany i they were, however, subsequently seen together on Qulncy-street, near Wells, and shortly alter Mrs. Rotal was heard crying out "oh bus oh bus," and holding up her band to the right sice of ber throat, from which 1 did not accompany br home, but made off nortiT ward, across a vacant lot. Dr. Jsacns was summoned from his drug store on the corner of South and Adams street and found cut on the rlflht aide of the neck about two lrrbes long, but not deep, nor dangerous, it only sev. ered some of the fibre on the main muscle of the throat.

Tbe cut was in the form of aa angle, and appears not to bave been a slash with a knife, but an incision with the point of a sharp instrument. lie dressed the wound axd left tbe women quite comfortable, but owing to subsequent mental excitement, produced by visitors anil inquiries, the wound took to bleeding fresh, and he waa again sent for, but not being at home, Dr. C. N. Fnoa was called in, who again dressed the wound, which be also pronounced not serious.

The South Division Police Station being within a few doors of Dr. Rotal house, the Police were soon enraged in search for tha Doctor. Dr. Rotal Is a man of about tbe average height, of middle age, has been a surgeon in the army, and came to reside in this city laat October. The Flour Market, with some few exceptions oo the list which were influenced by English order, waa in control of the Bear account most of the week, but on Friday and Saturday better demand was manifested at about the outside prices, and a larger business, in amount, was accomplished. The general market left off steady on Saturday forenoon, no second session being held on that day as csual through the Summer.

La United States new Fives there is more demand the sales are at 101, with that price bid for more. The latest sales quoted from London are at 93 per cent. Sterling money, equal to with the expense added. The decline in Tennessee State Fivee continues, and the latest sales, on orders, it is understood from Tennessee, were at per cent. About fifty miles new Railway work part on the Louisville and Nashville line was finished up early in July, and upon this the State advances $10,000 per mile in 40-jear Bonds, receiving as security a first lien upon the Road and its equipment.

The finished roads in the State upon which these advances have been made, altogether, in regular 6 cent. Bonds such at are sold in this market are equal to about 700 miles, implying a Public Debt in this way of $7,000,000. Similar advances by the State's indorsement of the first mort. gages of the Railway Companies, were made, aome years ago, on 255 miles, making the Indorsed Obligations of Tennessee $2,550,000. The decline in Tennessee's somewhat influenced Miaaouria at the close of the week, and the decline from the previous week is cent.

In Kew.Toik Central the dealings fluctuated through the week about 1 cent, closing at a decline of i'a i cent. The transfers closed on Saturday, preliminary to the August Dividend, the amount of which be fixed by the Directors at a meeting to convene about the 6th or 8th inst. Iu Reading there is more activity, and both thia and the Philadelphia market, show considerable lirmness, owing, in good part, to the improved look of the Anthracite Coal tonnage. The same influence is holding Delaware and Hudson, and Pennsylvania Coal shares quite steady. The last will make the usual August Dividend of 3J and we understand the annual report will show 8 cent, earned for the year.

On the other hand, Cumberland shares have had a decided fall, selling as low aa 13 but closing at 14 cent. This Company is in the Bituminous Coal trade in Maryland, but we do not understand the preaent decline to proceed from any change of prospects in the trade, but from the position of part of the stock held by one or two of the Brokers on the Street. In the Western Shares, the advance is lSlj cent on Illinois Central, with an advance of 1J cent, in the Bonds of the Company, on the last news from the London market. In other descriptions, with the usual strong disposition evinced by the sellers for the fall to hammer prices, the final changes at the clcteofthe week are not important, while the demand for Rock Island, Galena and Michigan Central showed an improvement. Panama ia lesa active, and cent, lower.

Pacific Mail made two or three changes during the week, but left off at an advance of 2 cent. In the near Railway Slocks, Harlem Preferred lost part of ita activity Hudson River steady in price with few transactions, and Erie but very partially offered at the very low figures recently established, while the bids for it improved at the close cent. The various Bonds of the Company are also generally withheld from markei the current prices, and the second, tliird and fourth Mortgages are 12 cent, higher on the bids. Tbe Bonds of the New-York Central and Michigan Central are in aome demand for London, though the dealings are confined to retail parcels. The general market closed on the Street at 3 o'clock a fraction lower for New York Central, with little or nothing done In other descriptions.
