M. Two important arrivals are announced today, one from Europe, with news to the 16th July, confirming the peace in Italy, the other from the Pacific with the mail and treasure from Califor-uia to July 5. In London and Paris the Funds had partially receded from the first flurry of speculation and excitement which occurred on the first news of the tieaty, but at the Bank of the rate of Interest was lowered to 21 and in Manchester and Liverpool unusual activity, with a large advance in prices, took place in the Cotton trade. The sales of Cotton are reported 10T.000 bales for the week, and the advance equal to $2 60 the bale, or the ft. The rise in Yarns at Manchester is called Id.

the D. Th foreign Giain trade was depressed, in London and Liverpool, owing, in part, to the fine harvest weather at home. At Havre, the Cotton market was buoyant. On the Faria Bourse the French Fonda stood 68.60, and on the London Exchange, Consols were 9595 on Friday. American Stocks were mote active in Lmdon after the peace, and sales of I.linoia Centra' aharea were made at an advance of five cent, in two day closing 67j2t68i.

The State and United Stale Stocks were active, and the latter i'SH cent, higher. The quotations for some of the Railway Bouds are also higher. The Moses Taylor, from the Isthmus of Panama, brings a Gold freight of $2,115,000, the largest by any single steamer since December, 1857. The mining account continue steady from California, and a detailed statement of tbe shipments of produce from San Francisco for the first six months of the present year illustrates the uniformity of the production. We have also by this arrival an account of some very remarkable discoveries of Gold on the Pacific coast, at Chiriqui, a little north of Panama.

The facts are detailed in the newspaper extracts under our general report, and confirmatory of these we have aeen a private letter to th Panama Company from their commercial agent, Mr. NxxaOK, detailing the same facts, as follows A vessel arrived front Chlrlqu a few days ago, bringing ua the news that large quantities of gold had just been discovered In the tombs of the Indians in the neighborhood of David, about tW miles from this place. Th gold is found la the snap of ornaments, birds, alligators, sharks, dtc. Some very la gold, others very much alloyed with eoppsr. I hare ssen letters from two gentlemen of David of veracity.

One estimates the value of the gold extracted In about three weeks at $100 000. another stlmates th quantity to be over nine atTiba (223 About a thousand men were then at the diggings. The burial ground extenda over several leagues. There Is quite an excitement In Panama oa the suiject. Two vessels have already left for Chblque, and another will leave to-morrow.

The people of Chirlque aay there was a gold sain la the neighborhood, supposed to be the tichest In South America, This mine was near a large Indian to am called La The tradition that the Indians rose on th Spaniards and forced them to leave the country, aad that they retired ta Costa Rlca where they founded. the dty of Cartago." The English news puts bright face upon our Cotton trade, present and prospective. la prospect of another large crop, which may reach four millions balea, the renewal of active trade at Manchester with the whole world, and the continued good accounts which that trade and our own are receiving from India and China for manufactured goods, tha importance of a large advance in the raw material can acarcely be exaggerated. These adTices ax also highly appreciated bj our banking house in the Foreign Exchanges, aa tending to give stability to the best aourc of their business through the remainder of the Summer and Autumn. Th turn in Cotton and the rat of Interest at the English Bank will, we think, tell at once upon the export demand for Bullion, confining it through August to the receipt from California and the South though th next mail or two will enable oar banker to speak more decidedly for themselves on thia point.

The Ex' changes for Saturday have not yet opened. The impreealoa is, there will a diminished demand on Paris, aa compared with last week, while the English rates, If any thing will be a fraction easier. There will not be much done until after the Eur op a' mail la delivered. The Ariel sails on Saturday for Uavre, and the City of Washington for Liverpool. The principal Bullion engagements wOl be for th latter.

The Hamburg steamer Borwim will follow on Monday, Aug. 1. The Custom Duties to-day are other receipts Into the Sub-treasury, 1 disbursements, including $45,000 on California account, balance this afternoon, $5,153,647. The market for Money to-day, la actual roles cent, for lome parcel of August and September bills, of prime character, takes to fill up the line of one or more of the leading Basks, and 7 cent, for November and December bills of like choice, taken outside. 'We also hear of January paper at cent.

The Stock Brokers paid 5 cent, on choice collateral, and 6 cent, oa txiacelianeons, for loan negotiable oa demand. The market, generally, is steady, with a fair demand, and some alga of Improved trade to create good paper. We understand that the Empire City, from New -Orleans, haa about $250,000 in Mexican silver on rreisbt, for which there Is a ready demand for export to England, where the China orders are.
