Father Coyne served as chaplain in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. leaving the service with the rank of captain. In 1946. he was assigned to St.

Michael's College for continued studies. From 1951 to 1962, Father Coyne was instructor at Cardinal Mindszenty High School in Dunkirk. N.Y. In 1962, he became assistant pastor at All Saints parish in Anniston. In 1S54.

Father Coyne became the librarian at St. Edmund's Novitiate, Enders Island, Mystic, Conn. From 1966 to 1967, he served as assistant pastor at St. Amadeus parish in Alburg. From 1967 to 1976, he was assistant pastor at Church of the Nativity parish in Swanton.

In 1976, he retired to the Edmundite Mission House in Selma, where he resided until his death. Besides his Edmundite brothers, Father Coyne is survived by a niece and two nephews. They are Mrs. Mary Van Derzee of East Greenbush, N.Y., J.L. Coyne Jr.

of Rensselaer, N.Y., and Joseph Parker of Bloomfield, Conn. Father Coyne was waked in the Edmundite Memorial Chapel in Selma on Tuesday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. His funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. March 13, in Queen of Peach Church, Selma. Father Joseph L.

Hart, S.S.E., superior general of the Society of Saint Edmund, officiated at the Mass and was the homilist. Burial followed in Fairlawn Gardens Cemetery in Selma. COYNE, S.S.E. SELMA. Ala. The Rev. Vincent J.

Coyne, S.S.E., 85, died in the Edmundite Mission House on March 11, 1991, after a brief bout with pneumonia. Father Coyne was born in Rensselaer, N.Y., on Aug. 15, 1905. He was the son of Joseph and Theresa (Farrell) Coyne. After graduation from St.

John's High School in Rensselaer, Father Coyne attended St. John's Seminary in Little Rock, Ark. He entered the novitiate of the Society of St. Edmund in 1930 and made his profession as a member of the Society on Sept. 1, 1931.

He then attended St. Michael's College. From 1934 to 1938, he studied theology at St. Mary's Seminary in Randolph. June 11, 1938, Father Coyne was ordained to the priesthood in St.

John's, Quebec, by Bishop Anastase Fourget. From 1938 to 1942, Father Coyne served as pastoral assistant in the Edmundite Southern Missions, more specifically in Sel-ma and Anniston, Ala. It was during these first years of Missions that Father Coyne founded the Savings Athletic Club. The club was the precursor to the Don Bosco Youth Club. It was the first institution of Catholic sponsorship for youth in Selma.

He was born in Montgomery, April 24, 1919, the son of the late Elmer and Bertha (Longley) Longe. Mr. Longe was a former resident of Sheldon and for the past year he made his home in Enosburg. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.

While living in Sheldon, he was employed by the town of Sheldon as a grader operator and truck driver for 1 8 years. He was custodian at the Sheldon School for the past 11 years. Mr. Longe had been a member of the Sheldon Fire Department and the CB Radio Club. He was a U.S.

Army veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 88 of Sheldon. He owned and operated a dairy farm In North Fairfield for 10 years. While employed at the school, Clifton enjoyed the staff and always had lunch with the children, who fondly knew him as "Papa Bear." He is survived by his wife, Janice (Garrow) Longe; a son and his wife, Ronald and Rose Longe of Sheldon; two brothers, Richard of Sheldon and Floyd of St. Albans; five sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Kathryn) Dulude, Mrs.

Walter (Hilda) Duffy, and Mrs. Barbara Ken-nison, all of Enosburg, Mrs. Harold (Marjorie) Comings of St. Albans, and Mrs. Clinton (Ger-aldine) Newton of Duxbury; two grandchildren, Ronald Longe Jr.

Smith, 77, passed away March 13 in Manor Nursing Home in Morrisville. Born in Williamstown, May 27, 1913, she was the daughter of Clyde and Sarah (Poor) McAllister. A resident of Johnson for 42 years, she previously resided in Williamstown. She was a member of Johnson United Church, and its women's society. Mrs.

Smith was a graduate of Lyndon State College. She was an elementary schoolteacher for more than 30 years, teaching in Williamstown, Johnson and Morrisville, retiring in 1974. During World War II, Mrs. Smith was a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. She was an organist in Johnson United Church for many years, and was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Johnson.

She was predeceased by her husband, Philip L. Smith, Oct. 25,1978. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Stephen and Mary Jean of Johnson, Gordon and Carolyn of Johnson, and Gary Smith of Morristown; two sisters, Ruth Thayer of Lisbon, N.H., and Rebecca Lacillade of Williamstown; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

MOSE J. PERROTTE RENSSELAER, N.Y.BURLING-TON Mose J. Perrotte died at his residence Wednesday after a brief illness. He was born in Burlington, and had been a resident of Rensselaer for 55 years. He was a weaver for 31 years for Huyck Woolen Mill in Rensselaer, retiring in February 1967.

He then worked as a courier for Key Bank of Albany for five years, and was employed for several years in City Hall. He had been retired for several years. He was a member of Rensselaer Council 267, Knights of Columbus, and Rensselaer Senior Citizens, and a communicant of St John's Church in Rensselaer. He was the husband of the late Monica Campbell Perrotte. Survivors include sons Richard C.

Perrotte of Castleton, N.Y., and Reginald R. Perrotte of Scotia; two sisters, Lillian St. Onge of Saint Catherine, Ontario, and Yvonne Dusablon of Winooski; 19 grandchildren, and several greatgrandchildren. THEORET ALBURG Alphonse J. The-oret, 88, a resident of this community since 1916, passsed away Thursday, March 14, 1991, in Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. Mr. Theoret operated his own farm in Alburg for many years.

He was a longtime member of St. Amadeus Church in Alburg. He was born in St. Albert, Ontario, Canada. Aug.

1. 1902, the son of Medor and Soufronie (Meulleur) Theoret. He attended school In Canada, and June 20, 1928, he married the former Elaine Le-Febvre, who survives him. CHARLES BRANON FAIRFIELD Charles Branon, 62, died Wednesday evening, March 13, 1991, in Fanny Allen Hospital in Colchester surrounded by his family, following a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Fairfield, April 7, 1928, the son of the late Mary Barry Branon and E. Frank Branon.

He attended the Gould School in Fairfield, graduated from St. Mary's High School in St. Albans in 1945, and St. Michael's College in 1949. Charles farmed all of his life, and for the past 38 years he owned and operated his own farm in Fairfield.

He was a member of St. Patrick's parish and St. Patrick's Credit Union. Charles was a stockholder in Leader Evaporator Co. He served as president of the company, which is now the largest maple equipment manufacturer in the world.

He served as a distributor for Leader Evaporator and managed the can company for a term. He was a charter member and served 25 years as president of the Franklin County Maple Coop. Charles served several terms as Franklin County director of the Vermont State Sugarmakers Association, and served as representative of the bulk maple producers on the Vermont Maple Industry Council. Recently he received the 1990 President's Award and the 1 990 Farm Family Award from the Vermont Maple Sugarmakers Association and Vermont Maple Industry Council. In 1952, he married Barbara Ryan, who survives him.

He is also survived by 1 1 children, Philip and his wife, Melanie, and Catherine, both of Los Gatos, Stephen, Richard, Maureen, Joan, Damian and his wife, Stephanie, James, Barbara and Raymond, all of Fairfield, and Claire and her husband, Bill, Thompson of Swanton; eight grandchildren, Trevor and Morgan Branon, Bill and Eddie Thompson, Patrick, Ryan, Damian Peter, and Mariah Jayne Branon; his brothers, Barry and his wife, Mary, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Father Philip Branon of South Hero, Ralph and his wife, Terry, Branon of Burlington, John and his wife, Sally, of California, and Paul and his wife, Mary, of Acton, two sisters-in-law, Margaret Branon and Judge Betty Branon, both of Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews. He was born in Rochester, N.Y., July 24, 1918, the son of Paul and Jennie Ciaraidi. He was a television producer-director for WROC-TV, Rochester, until he retired in 1957 and moved with his family to Stowe. He was owner-operator of Pine Moter Court in Stowe from 1957 to 1970. He was a member of the Stowe School Board for 12 years, executive director of Lamoille County Development Council for 16 years, during which time many grants were received for projects in the Lamoille County area. He helped organize United Way of Lamoille County and led Green-Up efforts for 19 years.

Tony was an Eagle Scout and served the Boy Scouts in many capacities. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Tony retired from Lamoille County Development Council in 1987. Since then he had served as an Act 250 consultant. In March 1990 he was appointed to fill a vacant seat in the Vermont House of Representatives for the StoweMorrisville District.

In November 1990 he was elected to represent the Stowe Morrisville District for the current biennium. Mr. Ciaraidi is survived by his wife, Joan (Heisinger) Ciaraidi, to whom he was married for 46 years; his son, Thomas Ciaraidi of Stowe; his daughters and their spouses, Barbara and William Vo-gel of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Mary Jo and Jim Alexander of Stowe; four granddaughters, Andrea, Erica, Katie and Karen; two great-grandsons, Alex and Nicholas; one brother, Henry Ciaraidi; and several nieces and nephews. His delight was in helping people, and he touched the lives of many. His greatest legacy and satsifactlon would be if those of us he touched perpetuated his generosity by reaching out to others.

ALBANS Alice Irene Truso, 86, formerly of 9 Lower Welden died Thursday morning, March 14, 1991, in Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester, where she had resided for eight years. Mrs. Truso was the widow of Louis J. Truso, who died in 1974. She was a nurse at Kerbs Memorial Hospital for many years.

Born in Magog, Quebec, July 29, 1904, she was the daughter of the late James and Donalda (Robi-taille) Truso. She was a member of St. Mary's parish. Mrs. Truso is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Louis J.
