jtr An appreciative group of Jack-sonlans braved cold and bad weather to attend the performances of Major Bowes original amateurs at the city auditorium Saturday afternoon and night. Although the group was over an hour late arriving from Evanston, Indiana, a large audience saw and heard the performance in the afternoon and a still larger number disregarded snow to be at the program of the night performance. Appearing under the auspices of the Jackson Music association, the amateurs presented one of the best and most varied programs Jacksonians have seen during the current season. Numbers varied all the way from the imitation of fighting birds to a coloratura soprano. Harvey Mearns, a former candy salesman, received the lion's share of the applause for his renditions of numbers with musical Instruments made by himself.
