I worked in the family business. When I was going through high school I worked afternoons and summers as a laborer, so I started at the bottom. What's been your bluett business challenge? Just staying in business is the biggest challenge. It's a different world; it's different from when my family started the business.

It's not doing business with a handshake any more but we still do a lot of that. I'd like to bring it back. What's the most enlightening experience you've had in business? Being naive at certain times. I sometimes make the same mistakes over and over when it comes to people. I really want to trust people: The handshake thing means a lot to me.

I do what I say, and I expect others to do the same. Maybe that's the enlightening part: Not everybody's like this. Ragon Willmuth, M.D., of Burlington, has been appointed chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and clinical service unit leader for the Mental Health Care Service at Fletcher Allen Health Care. Harvie of Colchester has joined the private banking department, a division of commercial banking at the Chittenden Bank.

Harvie started with Chittenden Bank in 1990 as a service representative, and has held various positions since then, most recently as branch manager of the Bennington Square office in Bennington.
