Six teachers and forty-five students accompanied Mr. John R. Bane, Superintendent, to Vicksburg for the meeting. Mrs. Elizabeth Hector demonstrated the learning of words with her.

Anita Hooper, Lena Slayton, Amy Dell Sellers, Joyce Murphy, Loren Coleman and John Clark, all deaf students, put on this exhibition. Mrs. Minnie Maude Hartley next demonstrated reading, lip reading, phonetic sounds, phrases and preposition meanings with her group of first grade students. These consisted of Mary Gene Wright, Georgia Hobby, Alzera Sellers, Roy Blaylock and Billy Wal-ker. Mrs.

Estelle Woodruff then demonstrated material content in teaching with a third grade class in health, using the oral method of question and answer. The children in this demonstration consisted of Evelyn Marble, Peggy Ann Hill-man, Jane Barham and Hazel Johnson. The purely manual method of teaching, together with its advantages for certain types of dear students, next demonstrated by Mr. John Blindt, with a class in Arithmetic. Instructions, problems all explanations were given in the sign language, all which proved to be very interesting and enlightening.

The students in this demonstration were Betty Sue Bourgeoise, Doris Hutchinson, Benton Cox, Junior Ledbetter, Earl Byars and Clyde Simmons. Drills In teaching the deaf how to talk, how to read, how they learn to work and to sing were given by Mrs. C. H. Winchester, using the following students: Frances Walker, Frances Haralson, Betty Boone, Bennie Belk, Virginia Lee, Madaline Foster, Jewel Fra-ther, Eunjce Whitesides, Frances Lott, Geneva Fyron, J.

On failure to enter contract end mske bond as pro- GREENWOOD, Feb. 10 Guy Jones, Carroll county citizen, is in a critical condition at the Greenwood Leflore hospital at Greenwood from a gunshot wound while allegedly resisting arrest by federal internal revenue officers in Leflore county. Jones was arrested several weeks ago by revenue officers and escaped while being brought to Clarksdale.

He surrendered two weeks ago to federal officers and was released under bond.
