WASHBURN UNIVERSITY: Former Salina residents Lana Harris and Leslie Goheen are among 30 baccalaureate nurse graduates of Washburn University School of Nursing. While at Washburn, Harris has been a member of the Student Nurses of Washburn and named to the dean's honor roll. She is the daughter of Linda McReynolds, Abilene. Goheen was recently inducted into the Eta Kappa Chapter-at- Large of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. To qualify, a student must have completed at least half of the nursing curriculum, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 and rank in the upper 35 percent of the class.

While at Washburn, she has served on the board of the Student Nurses of Washburn and has been on the dean's honor roll. She also received the President's Award in 2000. She is the daughter of Kenneth and Susan Wisbey, Beloit. SERVICE ACADEMY: Ryan Nichols of Assaria met with members of the First District Service Academy Selection Board in Great Bend to interview for a congressional nomination to one of the U.S. service academies.

The formal interview was -the final stage of the seieetion process. Each year. Rep. Jerry Moran (R-Hays) uses the board's recommendations to nominate outstanding Kansas students to the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S.

Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Nichols is a senior at Oak Creek School and is scheduled to graduate in 2004. He is the son of Scott and Diana Nichols.

'i' BETHEL COLLEGE: Dana Rathbun, Bennington, has been awarded the Founder's Academic Scholarship from Bethel College for the 2004-05 academic year. The scholarship is valued at $28,800 over a four-year peri- NICHOLS od. Rathbun is a senior at Bennington High School. Academic scholarships at Bethel are based on high school grade-point average and college entrance exams. OKLAHOMA UNIVERSITY: Richard Maynes, Salina, received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Oklahoma-Norman.

ti a KANSAS UNIVERSITY: Genevieve Boyle, Salina, is among 18 honor students at the University of Kansas who will study in London next March. The semes- terlong class allows students to conduct research on London sites, with each student specializing in a particular aspect of the trip. After returning from London, the class publishes editions of "The London Review 2004." Membership in KU's Honor Program is required, and students are selected by recommendations of instructors.
