'fat Wt CHOWMEHinie new diaderpadk. She has starred in her second film here with Vittorio De Sica and has been married to Prince Vittorio Massimo, scion of one of Rome's oldest noble families. Prince Vittorio, who had had a previous unhappy matrimonial experience with a Danish beer heiress, took only 10 days after meeting Dawn for the first time to make his formal proposal of mar- riage. "We met in funny circumstances," Dawn tells those who ask her how she came to know Vittorio. I was on location at Formia, on the coast south of Rome, with the company shooting underwater scenes.

I was a rogwoman having trouble with an oxygen mask. Vittorio, working as an extra for a day, was a paralytic Arab in a slave market We became acquainted, and soon I discovered he had a wonderful sense of humor. "Once he invited me to a party he was giving at his country place. There were many guests from the Rome movie colony. During the party I was seized by a slight headache, so went inside to have a little rest Vittorio came in to look after me.

He sat near me, and after a while he asked, Dawn, dear, will you marry me? "I was so surprised I couldn't give him an answer right there. But I promised I would think it over and give him an answer after I had had time to know him better. He agreed." The courtship was a little stormy at times, but never was there a really serious rift between them. "Vittorio agreed and came to Paris to see me off.

At the airport, just as I was stepping into the plane, he gave me a plain ring. That was my engagement ring." Back home in California, she discussed her marriage to Vittorio with her father, Group Captain James R. W. Addams, formerly of the British Royal Air force. To avoid making a hasty decision, and also to be sure that Vittorio, too, was not acting under a sudden impulse which he might easily and quickly regret Dawn decided to accept an offer from United Artists for a part in the film "Khyber Patrol," which kept her in California until about Christmas time.

She flew back to Rome in late December, 1953, just in time to spend the Christmas holidays with Vittorio- and start work with De Sica in the film The Bed," an omnibus in which. Dawn has leading role in one of the four episodes. In January, 1954, she had to go to Frankfurt to be present at the first showing of "The Moon Is Blue," in which Dawn plays the amusing role of the girl upstairs. From Frankfurt Dawn went to London for a visit with her relatives there. Vittorio cabled her that he would join her there to discuss their marriage.

Dawn went to meet him off the boat-train at Victoria station, but she missed him, and he went off in a taxi. Dawn waited for. the next train, and still another. She checked the main hotels, finally located him in the Park Lane. The prince cabled her father in California for his consent to the wedding, and got it.
