Interment Cedar ITALIAN TENOR SGHIPA DIES IN NEW YORK New York, Dec. 17 (UPD Tito Schipa, 76, the Italian tenor who thrilled American and European audiences for 52 years, died last night in Wickersham hospital. A hospital spokesman said the singer, who retired in 1963, succumbed to cardio-circulatory failure arising from diabetic complications. Ranked with Caruso Schipa ranked with Enrico Caruso and Beniamino Gigli as one of the great Itailan tenors of his time.

18 Saturday LP Lord Ismay, 78, who served as Winston Churchill's war-time military adviser, died last night in his home at Broadway, Worcestershire, after a short illness. Gen. Ismay was a soldier, statesman, and diplomat a man who knew most of the secrets of World War II. He already had enjoyed a life of romance and adventure before Saraceno June M. He was then Sir Hastings Ismay. Served with NATO After World War II, he served as secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty organization.

He saw 40 years of service with the British army, retiring with the rank of general, but his retirement was short lived. He was raised from knighthood to the peerage and went in 1947 as chief of staff to Lord Mountbatten, the last of the viceroys, to help cope with the problems of transition to self-government in India. In 1951, when Churchill returned as prime minister, he appointed Lord Ismay as commonwealth relations secretary. He held this post for only a few months until, in March, 1952, he was persuaded to become chief executive of NATO. Close Friend of Ike He retired as secretary general of NATO in 1957.

Queen Elizabeth II made him a knight of the garter, Britain's highest order. Ismay was a close associate and friend of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower thru their World War II days. Tito Schipa international reputation.

He sang at the Chicago and San Francisco operas before coming to the Metropolitan opera in 1932. Went to Italy in 1941 Schipa canceled all his American opera and concert appearances in 1941, saying ne was summoned to sing in Italy by the fascist foreign minister, Galeazzo Ciano. He spent the war years in Italy and Germany and was suspended from La Scala of Milan in 1945 "because he compromised himself as a sympathizer of the Germans and Fascists." The tenor returned to New York in 1947 to sing in Town hall at a benefit for the Catholic Charities of Brooklyn. The hall was only half full, and Schipa never attempted to build a a career again in America. He continued to sing in Rome and Milan, however.

In 1962 Schipa made a farewell tour of America, singing for the last time publicly in Town hall in October. Since then Schipa has made his home in Manhattan, running a private music school. WAS CHICAGO FAVORITE Schipa was for many years a favorite with Chicago Opera company audiences, and considered Chicago his second home. The singer made his debut here on Dec. 4, 1919, and hundreds of appearances thereafter, including one in Grant park on Aug.

16, 1937, that drew more than 145,000 people. He sang Suchogurski Florence Suchogurski, beloved daughter f. loving sister of the Rosary Catholic church in Elk Grove Village. Mrs. Olszewski died Thursday in Lutheran General hospital, Park Ridge.

Surviving are her husband, Phillip, an Arlington Heights policeman; her parents, William and Stephanie Majka; two brothers, Edward and William Majka; and a sister, Stephanie. Mrs. Andrew MacDonald Services for Mrs. Phyllis S. MacDonald, 68, of Bradenton, a retired Chicago stenographer who was the wife of Andrew MacDonald, will be held today in Bradenton, Fla.

Mrs. MacDonald, who died Thursday in a Bradenton hospital, was employed by the Hall Printing company in Chicago until nine years ago when she retired. Also surviving are two stepsons, John A. and Andrew J. MacDonald, and four grandchildren.

The Rev. Edward" A. Fastner Mass for the Rev. Edward A. Fastner, 71, of Edgerton, formerly of Chicago, was said yesterday in the chapel at St.

Joseph's college in Edgerton, where he had lived since June. He died Tuesday at the college. A redemptorist missionary, he worked at parish missions thruout the United States. He also had been pastor of St. Michael's and St.

Alphonsus' Catholic parishes in Chicago. Wilho Tikander Services for Wilho Tikander, 61, of 4250 Marine a magistrate in the Circuit court's land title section, will be held at 1 p. m. Monday in the chapel at 5303 N. Western av.

Mr. Tikander collapsed and died Thursday, apparently of a heart attack, in front of 39 S. La Salle st. Surviving are his widow, Majken; and one sister. FATAL TRAIN TUMBLE RULED AN ACCIDENT A coroner's jury yesterday declared accidental the death of Richard Rasmussen, 47, of 10207 S.

Hoyne who was killed Dec. 7 when he fell from a moving Rock Island railroad train near Roosevelt road and Sherman street. Rasmussen, a management consultant for the firm of Duff Anderson and Clark, 208 S. La Salle was killed when he fell from the train while trying to retrieve his hat which had blown off. He was taken to Billings hospital, where he was reported in fair condition.
