Taught at Northwestern He had been a professor of surgery at Northwestern university medical school since 1948, and previously had been associate professor of surgery for 14 years at the University of Michigan, where he received his medical degree. During World War II, as an army colonel, he commanded the 298th general hospital in the European theater, and was awarded the Legion of Merit.

Dr. Maddock was a fellow of American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Surgical society. He was president of the Chicago Surgical society in 1960 and of the Central Surgical association in 1950. He was a founding member of the American Board of Surgery. Native of Toronto A native of Toronto, Dr.

Maddock is survived by his widow, Jeanne; three sons, Walter, William, and Bruce; his mother, Mrs. Jessie Maddock, and two grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2 p. m. Monday in the Fourth Presbyterian church.
