A spokesperson in the Marion ISO office said teachers and administrators there had also been assigned to SHS. Test sites in Comal County have been established at New Braunfels Middle School and New Braunfels High School in the New Braunfels Independent School District and at Canyon High School.in the Comal Independent School District. San Marcos High School will be the site for teachers and administrators in the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, Gonzales High School has been established as a test site in the Gonzales Independent School District. Teachers and administrators in the LaVernia Independent School District will have to travel to Floresville to take the test, according to a secretary in the district superintendent's office. Information on where teachers and administrators in other neighboring TECAT packets available Registration packets for persons who currently hold a valid Texas teacher certificate but who are not currently employed in public education and who want to take the Texas Examination of Current Administrators and Teachers are available at the central office of the Seguin Independent School District. Roberto Salinas, assistant superintendent for personnel, said Tuesday the packets are available and may be picked up during business hours. Four test dates have been scheduled for those who must take, and pass the test in order to have continued certification to remain eligible to teach in Texas schools after June 30. The test dates are April 12, June 28, July 12 and Oct. 4. March 1 is the deadline for registering to take the April 12 test. . Passage of the TECAT is a provision included in House Bill 72. Some 210,000 teachers and administrators who are currently employed in public schools will take the TECAT March 10. State education administrators estimate that another 300,000 individuals throughout the state hold valid teacher certificates but are not working in public schools this school year. All test sessions following the March 10 administration are open to individuals holding Texas teacher certificates issued prior to Feb. 1, 1966. MUFON offers field training The Seguin chapter of the Mutual Unidentified Flying Object Network will offer a training session for field investigators at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at MUFON headquarters, 103OldTowneRd. Anthony Neugebauer, president of the Seguin MUFON, will teach all interested persons how to take interviews from people who believe they have sighted UFO's. Neugebauer's tips will help UFO investigators determine which sightings are real and which are only sightings of everyday aircraft or satellites. The group invites the public to the training session. For more information, call 379-9216. Tests will be administered at 125 sites across the state/Most test sites will be within 75 miles of an individual's residence. A $30 fee for the test will be charged. The fee includes registration materials and the official study guide. Because only a limited number of individuals can be accommodated during each of the examination sessions, assignments to test sites will be filled on a first-come, first- served basis. Beginning in 1987, the TECAT will be administered in February, June and October for individuals who do not have the opportunity to take the test this year. Registration packets that include information about the test, a registration form and TECAT study guide are also available at any of the state's 20 regional education service centers. Individuals must be registered to take the exam. Additional information about the TECAT can be obtained by writing or calling the Division of Teacher Assessment, Texas Education Agency, 1701 N. Texas Education Agency officials say efforts are being made to assign test-takers to examination sites in their own school districts if at all possible. According to a TEA news release, no educator will be required to leave his or her county to take the TECAT, except in the case of Loving County, where no schools are located and no test site is needed. Computer errors or mistakes made by educators on TECAT registration forms may cause some teachers and administrators to inadvertently receive assignments to out-of-county testing locations. Those who feel they have been mistakenly assigned should call the toll-free TECAT hotline at 1-800-5535533.
