Page 18 NEWS December 1,1877 Oiler Girl Cagers Beat Jersey-Lose To Victoria PEARLAND - The Oiler cirls varsity basketball team rolled over Jersey Village, 59 - 37. last week, but found themselves on the short end of a. 60 - 31. score • when they came up against Victoria. Sabrlna Schleld bucketed 34 points in the Jersey Village game with Lisa Buerkle contributing ten. Vitorla's strong defense led to the Oilers downfall in that game. Victoria had Schleld so well covered that she managed only nine points In the entire game. High shooter for Pearland was Donna Thompson with ten. Rochelle sees Victoria as a probable state contender this year. Good balance, height and speed plus plenty of returning starters are all working in their fabor, Rocheile says. Last week's split, gives the Oilers a 2 • 5 season mark with Schleld leading the team from the field with a per cent shooting mark. Lynda Gibson Is close behind with per cent from the field. Schleld and Donna Thompson share free- throw honors, both having made 51 per cent of their shots so far.
