PEARLAND • The Pearland chapter of the Future Homemakers of America held Its third meeting, last week and Lccsa White, Area IU Vice-President In charge of Public Relations, was the guest speaker. Leesa described her experiences as an area officer, which Included her trip to the National FHA Convention. Following her presentation, plans were made for the annual Halloween party, given for children at the Galveston Children's Home. Gay French Is the chairman for this event. The FHA members hold their annual Magazine Awards Dinner at the Ranch House restu- rant last Tuesday. Awards, for high magazine sales were given out. The girls who received the awards are Patricia Haddock, Edna Reeves, Terl Lopez, Gay French, Dianne Stewart, Julie Dvoretsky, Kim Kellum, Connie Miller, Melody Rolun- son, Juanice Scbank, Cheryl Thompson, Karyn Randt, Mary Strlttmatter, Suzanne Bradley, Estelle Navarro, Becky Dukes, Susan Wilson, Melinda Flores, Janet Mitchell. Diana Nugent and Michelle Russom. Embargo Set On Mail LOCAL - Effective immediately, due to a dock workers' strike along the East and Gulf Coast Ports, an embargo is placed on all classes of surface mall to Europe, including the Soviet Union, Greenland,. Iceland. Africa, South and Central America, the Caribbean Islands, Including Puerto Rico and the Middle East. Mall for these destinations presently in the Postal System will be forwarded and retained at the proper exchange office until the embargo is lifted. No surface mall to these areas will be accepted at post offices. Surface mail between the United States and Mexico, Canada, Cuba, and military mail will not be affected by the embargo. -Air Mail will continue to be accepted to all countries.
