(Courtesy photo) FRIENDSWOOD CONCERT IN THE PARK WHAT: The city of Friendswood continues its Concert in the Park series tonight. The series will run through July 9. Tonight's headliner is the Brass Rhythm Reeds, which will play big band and swing music.

Other artists who will perform during the series include: Pee Wee Bowen, Kurland St. Band and John Ashford Miles. WHEN and WHERE: The concerts are at 7 p.m. tonight and every Friday (except July 2) through July 9. Concerts are at Stevenson Park, 1100 S.

HOUSTON 'I AM ANNIE MAE' The Children's Museum of Houston will present "I am Annie Mae," a children's musical, this weekend. Composer-actress Naomi Grundy will share stories about Annie Mae Hunt, a pioneer African-American woman and native Texan, telling how Hunt went from being a domestic worker to becomming a self-sustained businesswoman.

WHEN: Performances of the musical are at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. WHERE: The museum is at 1500 Binz in Houston. COST: Admission to the museum is $5 per person and $4 for seniors age 65 and older. For information, call (713) 522-1138.

TEXAS cmr 'BOX THIRTEEN' WHAT: College of the Mainland presents "Box Thirteen" this weekend, which is the work of COM director Jack Westin. "Box Thirteen" is a historical drama about LBJ's second try for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate from Texas in 1948. Johnson had surprised popular sitting governor Coke Stevenson by challenging the home-spun populist with an aggressive, highly organized run-off campaign. Johnson had lost his first bid for the Senate nomination in 1941 to W.

Lee O'Daniel by 1,000 votes under suspicious circumstances concerning stuffed ballot boxes in Houston and Dallas. WHEN and WHERE: Performances of "Box Thirteen" will continue through June 27. Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays at College of the Mainland, 1200 Amburn Road in Texas City.

The 3rd annual Bob Marley Festival Tour makes a stop on East Beach, and the Caribbean Carnival Festival will be in Harbor House Park at Pier 21. The Caribbean Carnival Festival is sponsored by the African-American Chamber of Commerce of Galveston County and the Galveston Caribbean Carnival Association.

During the event, which is Saturday and Sunday, steel bands, calypso music and colorful Caribbean costumes will be the highlight. Festival goers also will be transported to the islands with the sites and smells of the Caribbean market place, which will have authentic Caribbean food, arts and crafts and live music. One of the liveliest of the activities will be the elaborate Carnival Costume Dancing Parade on Saturday. The parade includes five Caribbean costumed groups. The Bob Marley Festival Tour, also Saturday and Sunday, pays tribute to its namesake, reggae musician Bob Marley.

The festival tour, whichlacked off in Houston in March, features performances by reggae and world beat music performers. Performers include not only reggae bands but also dance troupes, jugglers, and poetry readings. For children there will be a Playscape area with games, rides and storytellers. As in previous years, the event will offer Caribbean, African and Third World foods and arts and crafts. The annual Bob Marley Festival Ibur travels to about 20 cities each year spreading the late Bob Marley's message of peace, unity and one love.

(Rle photo) The event honors Marley's achievements in the fields of music, world peace, ecology and natural foods. The theme for each year's tour is taken from one of Marley's songs. "Redemption" is the theme of this See C6 On Saturday, the Galveston Bay Foundation will educate Bay Day Festival visitors with activities, exhibits and demonstrationson how the community impacts Galveston Bay's ecosystem. Bay Day is from 10 a.m.

to 9:30 p.m. at Sylvan Beach Park in La Porte. Before the festival at 7:15 a.m. at the Sylvan Beach Fishing Pier, kids can enter the Ira S. Clarksori Memorial Kid's Fishing Derby and win various prizes and trophies.

For information, call (281) 4709891. Tom Townsend will step into the shoes of pirate Jean Lafitte to talk about the infamous pirate's life and how he influenced local history. From cooking and branding to shooting it out during a range, war, cowboy actors from the Shootist Association will make the Sylvan Beach Park feel like home on the range. The Bay Stage will have continuous live music from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Admission to the Bay Day Festival is $4 for adults, $1 for children ages 6 to 14 and free for children under age 6 and senior citizens older than age 65. For information, call (713) 863-9993. If you like it hot, you'll need to head out to the 1999 Bremen's Ball this weekend. The Teelin' the Heat" theme aptly describes the evening during which April's Fools and Michael Rores will perform. Also, there will be mechanical bull riding, door prizes, raffles and an exhibit of the Dodge Viper.

The Bremen's Ball will be from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at El Mina Shrine Temple, 5500 Seawall Blvd. in Galveston, Admission is $5. You're certain to see a friend or neighbor on stage at the Strand Theatre this weekend.

The Strand Theatre, 2317 Ship's Mechanic Row, presents A.R. Gurney's "Love Letters" this weekend, and the cast of two alternates each night. Tonight's performers are Sandra Raftis and Vandy Anderson. Ann Hamilton and V.W. Uhertake the stage Saturday.

And Karen and Jason Calhoun perform Sunday. Performances are at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. See C5 for a complete list of rotating performers through June 27.

The first annual Renaissance Faire, sponsored by the Greater Corpus Christ! Business Alliance, will be from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, 1900 N.

Chaparral. Faire goers can take an imaginary sail on a voyage back in time and enjoy authentic 15th-century sailing activities and costumes, crafts, activities, artisans, archery, falconry performers of the Society for Creative Anachronism and demonstrations by the Columbus Reet Sailing School. Live music will be provided by Gravel Walk, Scottish Rogues, Coastal Bend Plate Club, The Pirates of Melhan, Early Music Consort and John Carpenter String Trio. Admission is free for children under age $2 for children ages 6 to 12; and $5 for patrons age 13 and older. Raffle prizes will be awarded during the day.
