Services for her died son, W. H. Lasater 50, who recently in California, will be conducted at the same time. The Rev. N.

C. Duncan will officiate. Mrs. Lasater resided at 520 Biltmore and was the widow of W. H.

D. Lewis, 78. of Canton, died in a Waynesville hospital yesterday at 8:30 p. m. after a lingering, illness.

He was a resident of Haywood County and was a member of Morningstar Methodist Church. The body has been to the home on Winfield Avenue, here and will remain there time for the services. Funeral services will be held at m. Friday at the Canton Free Will Baptist Church. the Rev.

English MARS HILL, June 20-Walter P. English, 66, ot Swannanoa died last night in a veteran's hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at the home on Eastwood Avenue, Grovemont.

The Rev. Charles Smith and the Rev. John Goforth will officiate. Burial will be in the English cemetery in the Upper Laurel section of Surviving Madison widow, are the former Miss Zella Ferguson; daughter, Mrs. Scott Hensley; two Louis and Tommy, all Swannanoa; three sisters, Mrs.

Vance A. Dockery MURPHY, June 20-Vance Allen Dockery, 42, a farmer of Murphy RFD died at 3:30 a. m. today in an Asheville hospital after long illness. Surviving are the widow, Mrs.

Mae Timpson Dockery; three daughters, Miss Myrtle Dockery of Washington, D. and the Mildred Georgia Lee of the home; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Dockery Murphy RFD two sisters, Mrs.

m. The house, located at 15 Robin Bill Denied Dillingham An order, was filed in the office of the of U. S. District Court here yesterday denying a petition by Scott. Dillingham of Asheville for a bill of particulars.

Dillingham will be tried here on charges of income tax evasion. The case is a transfer from the Middle District at Greensboro. A federal grand jury in Greensboro returned a true bill of indictment against him several months ago. The Government contends that Dillingham owes some $7,500 in taxes for 1949, while he claims he suffered financial losses that year. Mrs.

Foy Dies At Greenville TRYON, June 20-Mrs. Mabel Absher Foy, 71, mother of Mrs. W. D. Moss Jr.

of Tryon and widow of John F. Foy of Mt. N. died at 12:10 a. m.

today in a Greenville, S. hospital after an illness of three weeks. She was a daughter of the late Mack and Julia McNeil Absher. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p. m.

at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Airy, The Rev. Preston Taylor will officiate. Nephews will be pallbearers. The family has requested flowers be omitted.

Surviving in addition to Mrs. Moss are another daughter, Mrs. E. I. Hoffman of Gainesville, a sister, Mrs.

E. W. Higgins of Victoria, and six grandchildren. She had been a teacher for 42 years at Elizabeth City and Mt. Airy.

She had been active in civic and church work in Mt. Airy, was a member of Mt. Airy's first woman's club and served on several of its committees. Mrs. Foy also had been a pioneer in arousing support for proposals for appointment of a truant officer and establishment of a juvenile, court.

She also had been active in PTA Deaths Mrs. Julia Patterson WAYNESVILLE, June 20-Mrs. Julia Hicks Patterson, 78, of Waynesville died at a hospital here early today. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the First Baptist Church, of which she was a member.

The Rev. T. E. Robinette, the pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Ferguson, R.

L. Coin, Henry Foy, George Dewey Stovall, J. C. Patrick and Huel Patterson. Mrs.

Patterson was a daughter of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Hicks. She was born in Blount County, and had lived here since 1912. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. G. C.

Ferguson and the Misses Eula and Erma Patterson of Waynesville. William Lyons Funeral services for William Lyons, 96, of Alexander RFD 1, who died Tuesday night his home after a long illness, will be held tomorrow at 8:30 p. m. in the chapel of Jesse Ray Funeral Home. The Rev.

Gov. Rufus Doughton of Sparta, died today at Alleghany Memorial Hospital here. She was a pioneer, in Baptist Church work and taught school 10 years in Alieghany County as a young woman. She resided near her brother, who headed the House Ways and Means Committee for many years. Surviving are six sons, Dr.

Sallie Ledford Gouge, 64, of Bakersville RFD 2 died this afternoon in a Johnson City, hospital after a short illness. She had been a member of Big Rock Creek Baptist Church since early womanhood. She was married to Ed Gouge May 20, 1907. Surviving are her husband; seven daughters, Mrs. Robert Herrell land Mrs.

Surviving in addition to the husband are two sons, Revell and Robert Chapman of Dayton, Ohio; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Chapman was a native of Chicago, attended Vassar College, New York, and spent most of her life in Evanston, Ill. She and her husband moved to Tryon about three years ago. Mrs.

Chapman was active in women's auxiliaries in Chicago hospitals. When she moved to Tryon, she was drafted immediately to head the sewing committee of St. Luke's Hospital woman's auxil. iary. Mr.
