Mr. Smith, who mad ehis home in the Pioneer Hotel here until moving to Oregon 15 months ago. died Sunday in Pendleton, Ore. Born in Sherman. he came to Mesa in 1926 from St.

Louis. He served 24 years as chairman of the Selective Service Board 29 of Maricopa County until resigning in 1967. was president of the Mesa Citrus Growers Association for 20 years and held the only- honorary b'fe membership to the Arizona Country Club in Phoenix. Piedmont, had taught swimming 20 years at the Roosevelt Elementary School pool and served on the school council for four years. She also was a member of the Neighborhood Senior Womens Club five years and was a salesman for the Harrison and Williams Real Estate Co. Born in Joplin, she came to Phoenix 24 years ago from Ore. Survivors include her husband, Ivan a daughter, Mrs. Maralynne Duncan, and a son, Stewart, both of Phoenix; three sisters and a brother out of state; and five grandchildren.

Callie Rawlins Mrs. Callie Bone Rawlins, 74, one of three original em- ployes of the Arizona Industrial Commission when it was activated in her native Phoenix, died Tuesday in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. Rawlins, 3040 N. 36th was graduated from Phoenix Union High School and taught school several years here after completing studies at Arizona State University (then Tempe Normal School).

She lived in Tucson from 1940 until returning to Phoenix in 1965. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Sidney Meyers of Phoenix, and Mrs. James Wood of Tiburon, and a niece, Mrs. Kenneth Voyles of Tempe.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery after private services at A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary. Miguel O. Moreno Rosary for Spec.

5 Miguel Ortega Moreno, 20, who was killed in action May 18 in South Vietnam, will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow in Mortensen Kings Funeral Center, 1020 W. Washington. Funeral Mass will be said at 9 a.m. Saturday in St.

Moreno, 734 W. Cocopah, was born in Phoenix and attended Phoenix Union High School before joining the Army in March 1968. He had been in South Vietnam the pqjst nine months. JJurvivors include his wife, Rosie a son, Joseph his mother, Mrs. Jessie Bar- Services for Mrs.

Molly M. Lerner, 64, who died Tuesday in St. Luke's Hospital, will be at 3 p.m. today in Bethany Chapel, 710 W. Bethany Home.

Burial will be in Beth Hebrew Cemetery. Mrs. Lerner, 6050 N. 10th Place, moved to Phoenix in 1959 from New York City and was a member of Beth Hebrew Congregation. Born in Russia, she came to Canada in 1926 and the United States in 1945.

Alejandro Moreno of Tolleson. Eva Barcelo DOUGLAS Funeral Mass for Mrs. Eva Barcelo, 65, who died Tuesday in the Douglas Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. today in immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Barcelo had been executive secretary of the Red Cross here for many years. She organized the city's first bloodmobile in 1935. She was born in Mexico and came here as a child. She had attended public schools.

Survivors include her husband, Frank; one daughter, Mrs. Renee Araiza of Tucson; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Browder of Douglas and Mrs. Anna May Atkins of Phoenix; one brother, Ben F. Williams Sr.

of Douglas; and four grandchildren. Carlos V. Torres SUPERIOR Services for Carlos V. Torres, 83, who died Tuesday in Final General Hospital at Florence, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the El Buen Pastor Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be in Prayer View Cemetery. Memorial services will be from 8 to 10 p.m. today in the McClellan Funeral Home. Mr. Torres, a native of Mexico, came to Superior in 1920 and owned a grocery Thomas Gratton Woods 84, employed 56 years by Western Union Telephone and Telegraph Co.

Encanto was credited with guiding the educational activities of 7,000 young men during his career with Western Union which started in 1899 at Birmingham, Ala. He was born in Gainseville. Ala. He was a member of both the Mobile and Phoenix Rotary clubs since 1921 and during his 48 years as a Rotarian he served as an honorary member, exchange editor and author of a weekly column for the Rotarizonian. Active in civic affairs, Mr.

Woods Lula Davis CHANDLER Services for Mrs. Lula A. Davis, 84, who died Tuesday in her home, 702 E. Cleveland, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N.

Hayden Road, Scottsdale. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery. Mrs. Davis, a native of Wisconsin, moved here eight years ago from Minnesota where she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, J.

Herbert Davis, and a sister, Mrs. Hazel Shirk of Mesa. Clifford Rothrock Rites for Clifford J. Rothrock, 72, who died Tuesday in St. Luke's Hospital, will be at 10 a.m.

Mr. Rothrock, 3338 E. Taylor, born in Pennsylvania, and came to Phoenix in 1950 from East Randolph, N.Y. He had been employed by the American Linen Sup- Survivors include his wife, Elva; a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Gates of Frewsburg, N.Y.; a son, Royden of Chicago; and three grandchildren.

John J. Slamon ASH FORK Services for John J. Slamon, 54, a resident here since 1914 and owner of a variety store, will be at the Chapel of the Garden, Prescott, at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Ash Fork cemetery.

Mr. Slamon, born in El Centro, came here with his family as an infant. He was a graduate of Ash Fork High School and was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad until 1945, when he opened a variety store here. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and a member of the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. R. L. Glover of Ash Fork, two aunts, Mrs. Roy Baird of Phoenix and Olga Hansen of Aarhus, Denmark.

Friends may call at the mortuary from noon to 8 p.m. today. James O'Connor James O'Connor, 52, a transportation representative for Air West who came here 14 years ago from Chicago, died yesterday in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. O'Connor, 4141 N.

47th was a member of the Marcos de Niza Council Knights of Columbus, former member of the Holy Name Society at St. Theresa Catholic Church, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was born in Collinsville, Tex. Services for Mrs. Rose Marie Phelps, who died yesterday in Good Samaritan Hospital, will be at 1:30 p.m.

He was born in Illinois and came to Arizona 22 years ago. Survivors include his wife, Grace; one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Stone of Phoenix; one son, Robert of Bentpn, and one stepson, Glen Broaderick of Oklahoma; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. THOMAS G. WOODS was a charter member of the Crippled Childrens Organization of Arizona.

Survivors include his wife, Maude, with whom he celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary last July; three sons, S. Delaney Woods, Thomas and Robert all of Phoenix; three daughters, Mrs. Marion W. Clapp of Phoenix, Mrs. Logan Ewbank of Tucson and Mrs.
