Clark trot their Millard-Fletcher junior high gridders out for their first appearance in history. Approximately one year ago it was decided to combine the student bodies of the two Asheville junior high schools into one unit for tire purpose of forming a baseball and football team. To Teach Game The primary objective of this more was to place the would-be gridders and baseball players under the guiding hand of one coach in order that they could be developed into suitable material for use in Lee H. Edwards high school on the varsity squads. With this in mind, O.

S. Clark, physical education lirector at David junior high, was chosen as head coach of baseball and Woody Griffin, serving in the same capacity at Hall Fletcher junior high, was chosen as head football coach. In each case both coaches were to work with the teams, only one of them was to serve in the capacity of assistant. Coach Clark carried his Millard-Fletcher baseball team through a very successful season, and most of the players were used to form the first winning Junior Ameacan Legion team in many years for Asheville. This fall Coach Griffin took over his duties as head football coach, with Clark as his assistants, and proceeded with the work of building the first combination junior high school gridiron eleven in the long history of Asheville.
