STARNES DIES IN WASHINGTON STATE Word Received Yesterday by Her Brother, Representative R. C. ell, of Candler. Representative R. C.

Crowell, of Candler, received a telegram yesterday from North Yakima, Washington, telling of the death of his sister, Mrs. T. F. Starnes, who was formerly Miss Annie Crowell, of Candler. She was forty-four vears old and the daughter of W.

W. Crowell, of Candler. The deceased has many friends and relatives in this section and the news of her death will be recelved by her friends with sorrow. Mr. and Mrs.

Starnes went west fifteen years ago and up to within the past year were residents of Walla Walla, Washington. She 19 survived by her husband. Her death came as the result of an Illness following an operation. Funeral Arrangements have not yet been made and it has not been determined where the Interment will take place. FEEL FINE! RED CROSS TO OPEN SECRETARY'S OFFICE, At Meeting of Executive Committee Held Yesterday Decided to Open Office in Masonic Temple, At a meeting of the executive committee of the Asheville chapter of the American Red Cross yesterday afternoon it was decided that next week Miss Howland, the secretary, should open an office kindly furnished the Masons in the Masonic temple, and that the preliminary organization of the classes in first aid and the advanced courses for graduates in the former should occur Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in the temple when Dr. J. M.

Lynch will meet those who wish to join the classesand everyone is invited. The report of Treasurer W. B. Williamson showed that 186 persons had memberships, six the $2 memberships, three the $5 memberships and one was of the $25 class. Special contributions for supplies exclusively for the local chapter's work amounted to $53.

The pressing need of the chapter for contributions of this class was emphasized by the statement of Mra. John A. Campbell, chairman of the hospital supplies committee, that after the sewing meeting next Thursday no funds will be left for buying material. One hundred Indies have volunteered for this work and the list is increasing daily. Money is necessary since the materials used are of A certain standardized class which can be obtained only by purchase.

Contributors may specify the particular objects for which they give. All active and retired officers of the army and navy will be asked to become honorary members of the mittee. The following is the list of special contributors to date: Mrs. R. S.
