He was a lifelong resident of Henderson County and the son of the late Lenoir Morris and Janie Leslie Morris. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Rogers Morris, and a brother, Leo Morris. He retired from Ecusta Corp. after 40 years in export packing. He was a member of Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W.

Post 5206 and Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77 in Hendersonville. He served in the Navy during World War Il and was of the Baptist denomination. He is survived by his daughter, Peggy Loflin of Hendersonville, along with several nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.

She served as organizing president of the David Vance Chapter, Children of the American Revolution, and was active in music circles, civic theater and the Business and Professional Womens Club. She began her career as a writer, serving as a correspondent for the Asheville Citizen during her high school years. She was the greatgranddaughter of Civil War Brig.

Gen. (and Congressman) Robert B. Vance and the niece of the late Buncombe County Commissioner John C. Vance. She moved to Casa Grande in 1984 and became active in various organizations there.

She served on the board of directors of Against Abuse the Pinal County Fine Arts Council and the GFWC Womans Club of Casa Grande. She is survived by her husband, Daniel A. Fogg, P.E.; daughter, Nancy Sumner Porter of Dallas, N.C.; stepdaughter, Marcie Fogg Manley Chico, and five grandchildren. The graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Cemetery with the Rev.

ISLEAN RAY BURNSVILLE Islean Ray, 97, of the Pleasant Gap community, Burnsville, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, in Spruce Pine Brian Center. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel K. and Young Ray. She retired from Yancey County School Joanna, System as a teacher with 45 years of service.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Belvia Ray, Ola Mae Young, Flaude Wilson, Tee Young and Gertrude Ray, and five brothers, Champ, Brant, Lyda, J. Biss and Fred Ray. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Gap Baptist Church, of which she was a lifelong member, having been a Sunday school teacher most of her adult life.

RICHARD 'DICK' KEHN CULLOWHEE Richard L. "Dick" John North Jr. Kehn, 68, a loving husband, father and grandfather, of Mill Creek Road, Cullowhee, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at his residence after a brief illness. A native of Warren, Ohio, he lived in Jackson County for more than 23 years.

He was the son of the late Ralph and Mary Miller Kehn. He was a friend to all who knew him. He was an avid outdoorsman, retired Army veteran and member of Cashiers Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Gwen Schlarb Kehn, and a son, Donald Kehn. HERMAN SPROUSE WEAVERVILLE Herman Sprouse, 70, of Sprouse Town Road, Weaverville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003. Mr. Sprouse was a member of Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Will and Ethel Sprouse, and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Sprouse and Mayzola Reynolds, and brothers, Zelrow Sprouse, Luther Sprouse, Perk Sprouse, Floyd Sprouse and Lloyd Sprouse.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Alma Sprouse; son, Randy Sprouse and wife, Lynette Sprouse, of Ashburn, daughter, Rita Ramsey and husband, Jimmy Ramsey, of Marshall; sister, Vonnie Lee Elkins; and grandchildren, Kyle Sprouse, Jessica Sprouse and Katie Ramsey. LEBANON, Tenn. George Marsden Wallis 77, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, after a long illness. Mr. Wallis was born March 29, 1926, in Biltmore, N.C.

A 1943 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School in Asheville, he attended UNC-Chapel Hill, in the officers candidacy program for the Navy. From early childhood through high school he worked on the farm at Biltmore Estate. After moving to Florida in the late 1940s, he worked for Sorrells Brothers, a large citrus and produce operation in Arcadia, Fla. He was a member of the Florida Farm Bureau and First Baptist Church of Arcadia, where he was an ordained deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Camille Funderburk Wallis of Lebanon; son, George Marsden Wallis Ill and his wife, Lisa, of Lebanon; daughter, Sarah Marcille Wallis of Port Charlotte, brother, Charles Wallis and wife, of Weaverville, N.C.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Etta Dillingham and George Marsden Wallis, and a sister, Margaret Wallis Haile. The funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 19, at Joshua Creek Cemetery in Arcadia, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Michael J.
