He was a past member of Harmony Association Executive Board and Home Mission Board. He had conducted shaped note singing schools throughout the Harmony Association churches. Since the earty 1940s, he had been a member of several gospel quartets.

He was an active farmer and former member of the ASCS Committee in Roane County. He had served in the CCC Camps. Surviving relatives includes his wife of 58 years, Maysei J. McCune Parsons of Newton, W.Va.; daughter, J. Carolyn Fisher of Dunbar, W.Va.; sons, Virgi E.

Parsons of Etkview, W.Va., Squire E. Parsons Jr. of Leicester. Thomas W. Parsons of Alum Creek, W.Va.; brothers.

She and her husband and son moved to Michigan in 1952 and lived there until 1971 when they moved to Tucson, Ariz.
