In dealing with its fund-raising projects, though, Vermont ETV faces an unusual situation 55 percent of its membership contributions come from across the Canadian border primarily from Montreal.

This increase is the result, she believes, of some "fine tuning" of established fund-raising methods as well as the public's general awareness of the station's financial difficulties. The latter was emphasized last year when the station considered taking two transmitters out of service if UVM had not authorized borrowing money for remote transmitting equipment. "I don't think it's coincidental that my background is in development," Ms. Mrs.
