of 22 Short Sluder Branch Road, died Sunday, October 3, 2010, at her home. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue will announce the arrangements She is survived by her daughter, Debra B. Fowler and son, Gary Ewell Bradley both of the home; sister, Shirley Guthrie of Weaverville: brothers, Frank Conley Ballard. Jr. and wife Brenda of Weaverville and sister-in-law, Joann Ballard of Weaverville; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Bradley's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Weaverville with Father James Swatzell and the Rev. Marjory Kiess officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.

CURTIS V. ANDREWS ASHEVILLE Curtis Vernell Andrews died Saturday, September 25, 2010. Born in Asheville on May 15, 1943 he moved to Lexington, KY at an early age and graduated from Dunbar High School. After graduating he went into the Army. He returned to Asheville in the late 70's and started working for the City of Asheville as a water analyzer until he retired.

His mother, Bernice Holloway, father, Cleveland Andrews, stepfather, Joseph Holloway. and a brother, Revnolds Holloway preceded him in death. Surviving are his sisters. Shirley Thompson (Harold) and Brenda Briscoe Gary); brother. Larry Holloway; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

People who met Curtis loved him for his warm and friendly personality. Evervone who knew him will sadly miss him. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Service. ROSCOE J.

BARNETT BAKERSVILLE Roscoe J. Barnett. 63, passed away October 1, 2010. Funeral service was held Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 2 PM in the chapel of Henline Hughes Funeral Home with visitation prior to the service. PEGGY BALLARD BRADLEY CREEK COMMUNITY Peggy Ballard Bradley, 78, of 90 Ballard Branch Road died Sunday, October 3, 2010.

Mrs. Bradley was born December 29, 1931 in Buncombe County where she had lived most of her life. She was a beloved member of the Ox Creek Community. Peggy, attended Alexander Chapel United Methodist' Church and was a member of the Church of the Incarnation, Black Mountain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Conley Ballard, Sr.

and Sarah Kathleen Penland Ballard, her sister, Evone Dalton, brothers, William "Bill" Ballard and Richard A native of Yancer County, she has resided in Buncombe County since 1940. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for young people, a member of the Dorcas Sunday School class and the Women's Missionary Union. She was a member of the North Carolina Extension Homemakers Association. She was the daughter of the late James Robert and Clara Sparks Shepherd. She was in death by her husband, Owen Lee Duck, in 1997, three brothers Vernon, Venus and Leslie Shepherd; and tWo sisters Edna Chandler and Sally Buckner.

Surviving are her daughter, Sandra D. Thomas and her husband David of Apex, N.C.; and her son, Dr. Randall O. Duck and his wife, Renee' of WinstonSalem, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Riley Duck and Reynolds Duck. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers for the special care and concern given to their Mother and Grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Victory Baptist Church with former pastor, Rev. John T. Edwards officiating. Burial will be at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas Burgess Keisler and Jennie Staton Keisler. She is also preceded in death by her husband Edgar R. Duncan; two brothers, Carl and Thomas Keisler: and one sister, Ethel Sue McCarson. She retired from Kimberly Clark and attended Hendersonville First Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Garry R.

Duncan and his companion Joanne James and John T. Duncan and his wife Madeleine all of Flat Rock; five grandchildren, Rebecca Villasana of Flat Rock. Jeannine Dalton, of Flat Rock, Jennifer Dean of Dallas, TX, Tommy Duncan of Muscat, Oman, and Richard Duncan of New York, NY: and four great-grandchildren, Nathan Dalton, Ellie Dalton, Brittany Villasana, and Emilio Villasana. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6.

MARYALICE FREEMAN TRYON MaryAlice Freeman, 80, of Tryon, formerly of HenMaryAlice Freemandersonville died Friday, October 1. 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Oklahoma, she was the loving wife of 56 years of Jack Hamilton Freeman. She graduated with honors from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Home Economics Education. MarvAlice was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, and honored by membership in Mortar Board, and Phi Beta Kappa. MaryAlice loved people. Her warm and enthusiastic outlook on life was endearing to those touched by her kindness.

In Hendersonville, she was active in the Old Kanuga Garden Club, the Forrest Women's Club, Pardee Hospital Auxiliary, Hendersonville Symphony Auxiliary, and Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. After moving to Tryon in 1982, she established the Felburn Foundation Nature Library and operated it for many vears before her illness. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Moore formerly of Mills River, NC. She is survived by husband, Jack Freeman of Tryon; three daughters, Linda Smith and her husband David of Monroe, NC, Kathy Mackey and her husband Mike of Houston, TX. and Judy Turner and her husband Tom of Perry, GA: a brother, Robert White and his wife Nancy.

A native of Buncombe Mrs. Morgan was a daughter of the late William and Ada McMahan Foxx. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Dale Morgan, two sisters, and one brother. A native of Buncombe County, he had lived in the Newport News area of Virginia for 40 years before returning to Buncombe County 3 years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Williamsburg, VA. He was a son of the late Alvin Thomas Nesbitt and Mary Marene Crawford Nesbitt By- rum. FRANCES G. OWNBEY ASHEVILLE Frances Gallimore Ownbey, 81, of Mount Clare died Saturday, October 2, 2010, at The Oaks of Sweeten Creek. Mrs. Ownbey was born November 27, 1928, in Buncombe County, the daughter of the late Ben and Maude Gaddy Gallimore. She was the owner and operator of Ownbey Day Nursery for 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Allan Ownbey; a daughter, Marcia Bailey and husband, Dennis, of Fairview; a sister, Eldora Franklin, of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren, Amy Capps, Renee Wimbish, Allan Bailey, Maria Williams, Nicholous Bailey, and Juan Gonzalez; and six greatgrandchildren. funeral service for Mrs. Ownbey will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with her son-in-law, Mr. Dennis Bailey, and her grandson-in-law, Mr.
