Sexton, died on Monday, September 27, 2010, at his home in Waynesville.

He was born October 6, 1915 in Tampa, Florida, the son of Ormond Griffith Sexton and Stella Crowell Sexton. He had many fond memories of growing up in Tampa and was very proud to be an Eagle Scout. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean theaters A Tribute in Memory of TAMMY LYNN FOSTER January 11, 1975 September 21, 2010 By Pat Cothran "I am so lucky." Those are the words Tammy spoke to me one evening in late June. She was experiencing pain throughout her body; headaches, swelling, double vision, tingling in her hands and feet.

But Tammy was joyous. She had the love of her family, and that Tammy and Pat was a gift she treasured. "I wouldn't trade this cancer for anything," she went on to say, "because I have my family with me; I'm taken care of, and that means everything to me." During her last earthly weeks, Tammy felt the love of her family and close friends, and it both surprised and comforted her to realize just how much she was loved.I met Tammy half her life ago, when she and my nephew were dating. They later had a son together, my great-nephew Cory. I consider Tammy my niece and she introduced me as her aunt.

We were related not by blood, not by marriage, but by love. Tammy never failed to impress me with her abilities. She was incredibly bright, and had such amazing potential. She worked for me three times over a span of more than a dozen years. Tammy learned the job faster and performed better than anyone else who had worked in her position.

She was a quick study at anything she did, and had a lot of talent. Tammy also had a generous heart. She enjoyed buying gifts for others, and doing things to help them. In July, in the midst of her own struggles, she gave my husband a get-well card after he had surgery. About six weeks ago, Tammy shared with me that she sensed someone standing beside her, touching her, patting her.

It gave her comfort, and she was happy because she was going to be with Jesus. We talked about her life, about her faith, about how much we loved each other, the memories we had, how much we would miss each other until we meet again. I told her what I would miss the most is her laugh. She had such a great laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. She said how glad she was that she would be free of her old life; how tired she was of struggles of this life.

In the face of cancer, Tammy displayed courage, I feel a great loss today. I am blessed because she was a part of it, I can speak determination, and acceptance. to have had Tammy in my life. And the words that she did: "I am so lucky." 259507-400.
