In addition to his daughter, he is survived by a daughter, Andri Muth; a son, Kurt; a sister; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held yesterday at Bryn Athyn Cathedral in Bryn Athyn.

Simons, 91, of Bryn Athyn, a pioneer in the cable-television field, died of heart failure Friday at Luther Woods Convalescent Center in Hatboro. For more than 25 years, Mr. Simons was a vice president for research and development at Jerrold Electronics in Philadelphia, designing technology to bring television to areas that could not receive conventional broadcast Keneth A Simons systems. After leaving Jerrold in 1976, Mr. Simons was a consultant at the University of Pennsylvania.

He published technical articles, a book on logarithms, a handbook for cable-television systems, and was awarded several patents, with the most recent in 1994. Born in Frackville, PA, formerly of PA, Joseph has been a resident of Glassboro since 1985. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving as a Paratrooper and Gliderman and member of the 17th and 82nd Airborne, during WWII and the Korean War.

He was a commercial kitchen equipment technician for Insinger Maching Company for 27 years, retiring in 1984. After retirement, he worked at his sons', business, Mechanic's Auto Parts in throughout South Jersey and Philadelphia. He was a member of the VFW Post 679 in Glassboro and was a former commander for 20 years at the Catholic War Veterans Post 471 in Philadelphia. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Williamstown.

He was frustrated, his daughter said, that cable television was not universally available, ad-free, or more community-oriented. Growing up in Bryn Athyn, Mr. Simons be came a ham-radio operator at 14 and while still in his teens operated the transmitter for a radio station in Elkins Park. He graduated from Bryn Athyn Church School and then earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1938, he joined RCA in Camden.

At the 1939 World's Fair he Samuel H. Rubin School board member, 85 Samuel H. Rubin, 85, a retired member of the Philadelphia school board, died of complications of diabetes and Parkinson's disease Sunday at Artman Lutheran Home in Ambler. Raised in Strawberry Mansion, Mr. Rubin graduated from Central High School in 1936.

In 1940, he married Ethel Fisher, and the couple settled in the Northeast. Mr. Rubin was drafted in 1942, serving in the Army as a German interpreter at Guantan-amo Bay until 1945. After the war, Mr. Rubin sold RCA products for several companies in Philadelphia before opening Red Lion Appliances in the early 1960s.

After closing the store, he was a substitute teacher at various vocational high schools while attending Temple University, where he earned a Samuel Rubin bachelor's degree in education in 1969. He earned a master's degree in education from Temple in 1973. During this time, Mr. Rubin continued to teach and served as principal at the former James Martin School and Vocational Training Center before retiring in 1978. That same year, Mayor Frank Rizzo appointed Mr.

Rubin, who was president of B'nai B'rith Educators Lodge, to the Board of Education. He served through a turbulent era when the board weathered bitter strikes, massive deficits and harsh criticism. His two terms ended in 1985. Mr. Rubin was a ham-radio operator and an accomplished artist and photographer, his family said.

He is survived by a daughter, Shelly Rubin Shorr; sons Leonard and Neal; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister. His wife died in 2002. A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Raphael-Sacks, 310 Second Street Pike, Southampton. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Route 1 and Old Lincoln Highway, Trevose.

David Joseph D'Amico Beauty salon owner, 62 David Joseph D'Amico, 62, owner of Nicholas David Hair Artistry on Bethlehem Pike in Chestnut Hill, died of esophageal cancer Thursday at home. A lifelong resident of Chestnut Hill, Mr. David Joseph D'Amico D'Amico lived above the shop.

Mr. D'Amico joined the Navy after earning a cosmetologist's license from Dobbins Technical School in I960. He worked on the flight deck of the USS Enter- Contact staff writer Sally A. Mr. D'Amico married Mary Frances Amato in 1967 and the couple had two children, Paul and Cynthia, before divorcing in 1984. His daughter now runs his hair salon.

Mr. D'Amico married Catherine Buckley in 1984 and the couple had a son, Nicholas, before that marriage ended in 1987. Mr. D'Amico, who loved Bob Dylan's music, played the guitar and was a sculptor. "My father was a nonconformist who marched to the beat of his own drum," his daughter said.

Sutton, 81, of Erden-heim, a retired lawyer, died of heart failure Friday at home. Mr. Sutton grew up in Tioga and graduated from Simon Gratz High School. After graduating from Villanova University in 1943, he served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific and was wounded twice in combat in Okinawa. He was awarded a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.

After his discharge, he earned a law degree from Rutgers University. From 1955 to I960, Mr. Sutton was an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia. He then worked in private practice until 1964, when he became an assistant U.S. Attorney for the criminal division of the Eastern Pennsylvania District.

He was appointed first assistant U.S. Attorney for the district in 1967. From the late 1970s until retiring in 1999 he worked in private practice in Philadelphia. He also taught business law at Temple and Drexel Universities. Mr.

Sutton and his first wife, Marian Birmingham Sutton, were married in 1946. When their 9-month-old daughter, Therese, died of cystic fibrosis in 1955, Mr. Sutton cofounded the Philadelphia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to raise money for research. His son Mark said his father was a football fan and refereed local college games in the 1960s. He also enjoyed trout fishing and Villanova basketball.

Mr. Sutton was predeceased by his first wife in 1976 and by his second wife, Helen Sutton, in 1983. In addition to his son Mark, he is survived by sons John Jr. and Gerard; daughters Marilyn Adamonis and Jain Acheson; a brother; and six grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m.
