Quinn shortly before he died testified Thursday that she did not see Quinn sign any. papers on Oct. 20, 1978. This was the day he signed -over most of his assets to several persons, including, to. a son and daughter of the late Mayor Richard J.

Daley. The nurse, Monalisa Bron, said Quinn was visited ori that date in his Marina City apartment by Dr. Joseph Cari, a Fire Department physician who died in Janu-, ary, and an attorney whose name she did not know. "Dr. Cari asked me to step out of the room for' papers to be signed," Bron told a hearing before Cir-.

cuit Judge Henry A. Budzinski of the Probate Division. BUDZINSKI IS hearing a petition by Quinn's only relative, Mrs. Patricia Boyer, a niece in connection, with the estate left by Quinn when he died Jan. 19, 1979, in Florida.

ANOTHER REGISTERED nurse, Carolina Sarmffn-to, also testified Thursday about Quinn's health while she cared for him in his apartment Oct. 14, 15, 16, 17, and 21, 1978. She and Bron, both employed at Michael Reese Hospital, cared for Quinn as part-time, private duty nurses. Questioned by Atty. John J.

Corbett, representing Mrs. Boyer, Sarmiento referred to "notes" she kept on Quinn, on Dr. Cari's orders, and which she said she attached to Quinn's medical chart. She testified Quinn from time to time was unresponsive, Incoherent, and confused and that his memory failed him. However, under questioning by Atty.

William representing the Daley family, she became visibly confused and made statements about Quinn's health incon-. sistent with her earlier answers. At Corbett's request, Judge Budzinski asked her to explain the inconsistencies. "I OBSERVED ALL these thinrs, but I just did not write these things in my notes," Sarmiento Mrs. Boyer is questioning Quinn's fitness on Oct.

Dr. William Beecher, director of the Chicago Academy of Sciences, said that along with the red-headed woodpecker, two other species of woodpeckers have been spotted in profusion. They are the yellow-bellied sapsucker and the flicker.

"Hermit thrushes have a beautiful song," Beecher said, "while the towhee is named for the sound it makes. It sounds just like its name tow-hee." ALSO SEEN in outlying areas have been several ruby-crowned kinglets. "They're hard to see up close," Beecher said, 'because they are a very swift, darting bird, never perching very long in one spot, but constantly moving from branch to branch." Beecher said the spring migratory pattern is proceeding normally "perhaps a bit slower than might be expected because of the late snow which fell Wednesday, but certainly earlier than last year." .07 65 42 82 40 48 48 Foreign temperature Aberdeen, 1 a.m.. pt. cloudy Amsterdam, 1 a.m., fog Ankara, 3 a.m., pt.
