When Tim Teufel's apparent ninth-innine Errand scoreless innings to raise his record to 3-0 as the Cardinals stranded 19 baserunners. Pittsburgh 2, Los Angeles 1 at Pittsburgh Rookie Randy Mil-ligan's two-out double in the 11th inning drove in Andy Van Slyke with the winning run for the Pirates. The run was the first scored off of Alejandro Pena in 15V3 relief innings. Milligan said: "As soon as I saw the ball come off my bat, I said, 'Yeah, It was a relief.

It was a very long game, and you don't want to have to go out there for the next inning. We'd left 17 runners on base and we didn't know how many more chances we were going to get." Philadelphia 4, Cincinnati 3 at Philadelphia Mike Young lined a bases-loaded single to center field with one out in the 11th inning to score Von Hayes for Hayes and Chris James each singled, Bill Almon sacrificed and Steve Jeltz was walked intentionally hefore Young singled. Atlanta 3, Montreal 2 at Atlanta Gerald Perry had a run-scoring single and Gary Roenicke a two-run double in a three-run sixth inning to spark Atlanta. The Braves took two out of three from the Expos, winning their first series of the season. Hubie Brooks drove in both Montreal runs with a two-run double to center in the first inning off Braves' starter Kevin Coffman (2-2).

Chicago 1, San Diego 0 at Chicago Vance Law's two-strike squeeze bunt in the bottom of the 10th inning gave Greg Maddux and the Cubs a victory. Maddux (6-2) allowed three hits, walked none and struck out eight. He retired the last 20 batters after giving up a one-out double to Randy Ready in the fourth. National League have come off it the way it did. But justice won out.

"I was disappointed, No. 1, that he missed the call, No. 2 that he didn't get any help and No. 3 that they all missed it," Johnson said. The game was expected to be a pitching duel between a pair of undefeated Cy Young winners, Dwight Gooden of the Mets and Mike Scott of the Astros.

But neither pitcher lasted past the sixth inning. San Francisco 5, St. Louis 4 at St. Louis Kevin Mitchell homered in the 16th inning, giving the Giants a marathon victory. Mitchell's fifth home run came off Bob Forsch (2-3) and was only the Giants' third hit over the last 10 innings in a game that lasted 4 hours, 48 minutes.

The Oilers won the Campbell Conference final series 4-1 and will meet the winner of the Boston-New Jersey series for the Stanley Cup. Craig Simpson and Mike Kru-shelnyski each had two goals and an assist as the Oilers led from start to finish to beat Detroit for the second straight year. Edmonton's Mark Messier, who scored one goal and set up three others, said: "The Wings played exactly like last year. They had some unfortunate injuries, but pulled together and gave us a battle." Simpson scored both his goals in the first period when the Oilers took a 2-1 lead.

Simpson assisted on a goal by Jari Kurri late in the second period, when the Oilers scored four times for a 6-2 lead and virtually put the game away. The Red Wings got third-period goals from Adam Oates at 1:33 and Steve Yzerman at 4:13, but it was too little, too late. Wayne Gretzky had a goal and two assists for the Oilers. Detroit pulled goalie Greg Stefan with 3:44 remaining and Gretzky scored into an empty net with 52 seconds to go. While Detroit coach Jacques Demers had said all along that he never expected to beat the Oilers, he was more disappointed than he was in last year's loss.

"We felt we belonged here more than last year," Demers said. "Last year was gravy. But we had a pretty good season this year and I thought we'd make a run for it." a three-run double, tying the score 8-8, Mets' manager Davey son was livid in his remarks to third base umpire Gary Darling, who made the call. The Yankees acquired Dotson (5-0) in a five-player trade with Chicago last November and they must be happy to have him. In his seven starts, all of which they have won, the Yankees have scored 66 runs. "It's a pitcher's dream to be on a team like this," Dotson said. "I was kind of pumped up. "I'm sure they wanted to beat me, especially after last night.

I was ready to go, and I'm sure they were, too. If you know people, you have even more incentive to beat them." New York won Wednesday night, 17-3. Dotson lost his shutout with two out in the eighth when Fred Manrique doubled and Daryl Boston hit his second home run of the season. Don Mattingly had three of New York's 14 hits. With two out in the bottom of the first, he singled off Jack McDowell (2-3).

Jack Clark followed by hitting his sixth home run. Detroit 8, Oakland 4 at Oakland, Calif. Mike Heath's two-run ninth-inning single off Dennis Eckersley helped the Tigers give Oakland its second straight loss after 14 consecutive wins. With the game tied 4-4, Gary Pettis led off the ninth with an infield single off Eckersley, who had 12 saves in 13 games and hadn't allowed a run in 15 innings. After a balk, a walk to Lou Whitaker and a sacrifice, Heath drove a single to left to put Detroit ahead.

Toronto 9, Seattle 3 at Toronto Ranee Mulliniks and Kelly Gruber homered, and Dave Stieb won his third straight start for Toronto. Stieb (4-3) gave up six hits and struck out six in eight innings. He gave up a three-run homer to Ken Phelps in the eighth inning. Minnesota 2, Milwaukee 1 at Minneapolis Gene Larkin doubled home the tiebreaking run in the eighth inning to lead the Twins past the Brewers. Randy Bush reached first base with one out in the eighth on an error by right fielder Glenn Braggs.

Larkin then doubled to left-center. Keith Atherton (1-1) worked 1 innings for the victory. Jeff Reardon pitched the ninth for his sixth save. Texas 8, Baltimore 0 at Arlington, Texas Paul Kilgus pitched a four-hitter for Texas' first complete-game shutout since 1986 as the Rangers won their fifth straight game. Kilgus (5-2) held Baltimore hitless for 5 innings and struck out six in his first major league complete game.

Cleveland 4, California 3 at Anaheim, Calif. Rookie Brian Harvey balked with the bases loaded in the 13th inning, giving Cleveland its victory. The Indians had loaded the bases on an infield single by Julio Franco, Harvey's throwing error on Willie Upshaw's sacrifice bunt and an intentional walk to Joe Carter. St. John, whose only bad inning was the fourth when he allowed two runs, made a mistake in the 11th when he hit Keith Strange with a 1-2 pitch with two out.
