"I caught her cheating with another man. She denied having someone else. I killed her." Police who investigated that message agreed that the caller was Dorothy Scott's killer. "For four years, (the caller) has tortured us," her mother said.

The couple didn't change their number because they hoped that if the man had Dorothy, he would allow her to speak to them. For months before she vanished, Vera Scott said Dorothy was terrorized by the daily telephone calls she received at the Anaheim psychedelic paraphernalia shop just a few blocks from her parents' home where she worked as a secretary: "One day he called and said to go outside because he had something for her. She went out and there was a single dead red rose on the windshield of her car." SANTA ANA. Calif. Now, after her remains were finally found, the calls have begun again.
