Obituaries I The TIMES-REPORTER A Thuri, April 3,1975 DOVER NEW PHILADELPHIA. OHIO Clifton Clifton E. Kdwards, 76, of 469 3rd st. NW, New Philadelphia, was pronounced dead on arrival at Union Hospital Wednesday morning after suffering an apparent heart attack in his home. Born at Mineral City, he was a son of the late Reese and Mary (Annie) Warne Edwards.

He was a retired employe of the State of Ohio. Edwards was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Philadelphia and the Senior Citizens. Surviving are his widow, the former Sylvia Bowman, and a brother, Maurice, of Newark. A brother also preceded him in death. Services will be Friday at 1:30 in Kaserman-Naylor Funeral Home at New Philadelphia with Rev.

Robert Dieterich officiating. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to9. Mrs. Howard Davis Mrs.

Howard (Lucy Davis, 56, of 3700 Dean Ventura, former Bergholz area resident, died suddenly Monday at her home of natural causes. Surviving are her husband; two sons. Jack of Ventura and Bill of Oxnard, Calif. two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Lidia Menasceof Rome, Italy, Mrs.

Friend services DENVER, Colo. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Gordon Funeral Home at Mineral City for Richard Gordon Friend, 23, of here, who died Saturday night in St. Anthony Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. His parents, Mr.

and Mrs. John T. Friend, reside at Mineral City. Rev. James Hall will officiate and burial will be in German Cemetery at Mineral City.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9. Baml COSHOCTON Private services will be held Friday at 3 in Plainfield United Methodist Church for Samuel R. Baird, 67, of RD 4. He died suddenly in his home Tuesday. Revs.

Rollin Conway and Donald Dolick will officiate and burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery. A life member of the Plainfield Church, he attended Bliss Business College. He served 14 years on the Plainfield board of education, six years as president, and he was a leader for the Plainfield Farmers and Farmerettes. Surviving are his widow, the former Virginia Kennedjy, whom he married in 1935; a daughter, Mrs. James (Gayle) Hackenbracht of RD 1, and two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Harry (Erville) Medley of RD 5, Mrs.

Preston (Mary) Hayes and John Baird of RD 3, both Newcomerstown, and James of RD 1, West Lafayette. Speneer A.Stollar MASSILLON -Spencer A. Stollar, 87, of 817 9th st. SW, whose daughter, Mrs. William (Jean) Seller resides at Dover, died Wednesday night in Massillon City Hospital following a sudden illness.

Born in Washington County, he was a retired employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad. A World War I Army veteran, he was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ. Stollar was a 50-year member of the Shreve-Garfield Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. Surviving in addition to his daughter are his widow, Esta; a son, William J. of here, and two grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in Gordon-Shaidnagle-Hollinger Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Schumaker officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Tornado hits Lebanon, while Xenia marks anniversary of '74 disaster XENIA. Ohio (AP)-Lightning flashed outside and a tornado watch was in effect nearby as about 400 people attended a memorial service Wednesday night for the victims of a twister that devastated parts of Xenia a year ago. "They were pretty nervous, but went ahead with the service anyway," said a newsman who attended. Midway through the service, police notified participants that a tornado was reported to have touched down in Warren County about 20 miles away. "That added to the nervousness," the reporter said.

Warren County sheriff's deputies reported that two persons were hospitalized, two homes were destroyed and several others damaged. There were no deaths. The twister's main force was confined to an area that had been cleared for the Caesar's Creek Dam, a flood- control structure. Glen Combs, who was leaving the Holly Hill Golf Club south of Waynesville when Wednesday night's twister hit, said he saw the "black cloud" destroy a farm house on U.S. 42.

Authorities said the twister paralleled the Little Miami River for about seven miles. Odis Alexander, 59, and his wife, Myrtle, 61, were admitted to Kettering Hospital at Dayton, after their one-story frame home was demolished as they lay in bed, authorities said. Van passenger guarded after county mishap Jean Pesec. 17, of Mentor remains in guarded condition in Canton Timken Mercy Hospital where she was admitted after she apparently fell out of a moving van on Tuscarawas County Rd.

219, just west of County Rd. 256, Wednesday at 5:40 p.m. Highway patrolmen, who would not release details of the mishap, said the driver of the van was David Melton, 19, of 336 Reeves Dover. Miss Pesec suffered cuts on her face and arms, according to officials at Union Hospital, where she was taken before being transferred to Timken Mercy. Patrolmen said the mishap remains under investigation.

David Hoopingarner, 20, of RD 2, Dover, is in fair condition in Union Hospital with back injuries suffered Wednesday afternoon in a crash on County Rd. 82, north of Dover. Patrolmen said Hoopingarner lost control on a curve and the car went off the road, striking a fence. Investigation is continuing into the Tuesday crash of a Claymont school district bus and an auto which injured three persons. Injured in addition to the two reported Wednesday was Tammy K.

Bloom, 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bloom of RD 1, Uhrichsville, a passenger on the bus. She was treated in Union Hospital for torn shoulder ligaments and bruised ribs, her father reported. Also injured in the crash were Tresa Martin, 12, daughter of Mrs.

Evelyn Smith of RD 2, Uhrichsville, a bus passenger, and Jack W. Craig 60, also of RD 2, Uhrichsville, driver of the auto. Craig was admitted to Twin City Hospital in fair condition and Miss Martin was treated there. The bus was operated by Richard Coventry, 40, of 318 E. High Uhrichsville.

The collision occurred on County Rd. 38 east of that city. New Philadelphia Lisa Schwartz, 8, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Schwartz of 910 S.

Broadway, escaped injury when she rode her bicycle into the side of a city-owned truck, operated by Doyle D. Fisher, 54, of 1045 4th st. Seven persons were killed and three others injured Wednesday when a tractor-trailer truck slammed into the rear of a station wagon carrying nine persons.

The top had to be cut from the demolished vehicle to remove the victims, five of whom apparently burned to death, while the other two died in the collision itself. All the passengers were members of two families. The truck driver, Byrd L. Hutchinson of Fitzgerald, suffered minor injuries. He was charged with following to closely and driving with an improper license.

Men jailed for killing 4 in argument over drug debt EAST ST. LOUIS Doiuell Berry, 26, and his 18 year-old brother, Michael, have been charged with four counts of murder and are being held here without bail today following the shooting death of four men in an apparent argument over an $85 drug debt.

Police said each of the four were shot at least twice al close range. One of the victims apparently owed the Berry brothers the money for a drug purchase. All the bodies were found in an apartment rented by a sister of the Berrys. Getty returning to California LONDON American multi-millionaire J. Two of the blasts occurred at insurance buildings, one damaged a bank and the fourth was at a Japanese restaurant. Four firemen were slightly hurt during cleanup operations.

Police say a young man claiming to represent a Puerto Rican nationalist organization (Armed Forces of National Liberation) called a news service and said "We just threw bombs." Bodies of 5 stabbing victims found in burning Buffalo house BUFFALO The bodies of five persons, all with multiple stab wounds, were found by firemen Wednesday in a burning house on this city's east side. Police said the victims included three women and two men, ranging in age from the late 50s to about 73. The blaze was set deliberately to cover up the killings, police think. No suspects and no motives so far. Queen faces demonstrations TOKYO A constitutionalist group of Christians, Buddhists and left-leaning intellectuals has issued a warning to England's Queen Elizabeth II that she will face "demonstrations" when she goes to Japan in May unless a royal visit to the shrine of Emperor Hirohito's ancestors at Ise is called off.

The group, calling itself the National Council to Observe Violations of Separation of State and Relgion, asserts such a visit violates the constitution, which downgraded Shintoism from a national religion after World War II. The group said it does not want "official persons" going to the shrine to "mourn" Shintoism.
