The basement, former site of the studio and control room, will be storage. First floor, formerly 'TXF executive offices and a bank, has the new studio.

A small parking garage will be built. Second floor, now the newsroom, will be used for offices. Third floor, now offices, will house the 10 p.m. and Market, up in '02, was extended to March '07. The Viacom-owned station is working out a further extension, to fall '07, says KYW rep Joanne Calabria.

The move is necessary "because we've outgrown our current space, and the leap in technology requires major renovations." KYW and WPSG have 81,000 square feet in studio and newsroom. (Gauntt hopes to have the newsroom up and running by fall.) And the fourth floor, formerly leased by an insurance company, will have more offices. Look for Fox's Channel 29 to launch a 5 p.m. newscast by late next year. As WTXF supersizes its headquarters at Fourth and Market, hard-charging news boss Holly Gauntt plans to add a third newscast to her lineup.

The Ten O'Clock News debuted in '86, followed 10 years later by the 7-to-9 a.m. Good Day Philadelphia. A third show "is hugely important," says Gauntt. "On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 9.9. It ups our profile in the community and lets people know we're there in key news times.

It makes us a lot more competitive." Ten O'Clock News and Good Day had their first broadcasts from 'TXF's new state-of-the art street-side studio last Monday. Among the bells and whistles: three robotic cameras and eight plasma screens. Ten O'Clock, with Dave Huddleston and Dawn Stensland, will stay street-side until its new third-floor studio is completed in fall '06. Huddleston and Stensland are expected to front the hour-long 5 p.m. broadcast, too.
