She was born in St. Mary's, on Feb. 11, 1921, to the late Pollard M. and Catherine Miller McLendon. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Buell M.

Crisp and brothers, Commie McLendon of Galveston, Texas, A. McLendon of St. Catherine Crisp and George Marys. She is survived by her sons, Thomas M. Crisp, John B.

Crisp and wife, Treska, and David M. Crisp and wife, Kathy, all of Fernandina Beach, daughters, Cathy Crisp Wiggins and husband, Dwight, of Bryson City and Susan Crisp Swaim and husband, Terry, of Bryson City; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Shondria was born on March 13, 1 964, She was a resident of Buncombe County until she moved to Concord in 1999. Shondria was the eldest child of Bobbv Lee Bowens 'A Sr.

and Sainte-Ola kA Mapp. Shondria nondria was a nn graduate of A.C. Reynolds High School and Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. She was employed with Buncombe County Personnel, Sheriff's Department, Buncombe County Parks and Recreation and Concentra Management in Concord. Shondria's life was an inspiration and bright light to all that knew her.

She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church In Charlotte and the G.B. Ensemble in Salisbury. Surviving, in addition to her par: ents, are her daughter, Ravyn ShaMyah McDowell and sons, David Louis McDowell and Christopher Lee Howard McDowell, all of Concord; brother, Bobby Lee Bowens Jr. of Asheville; sister, ShaDonna Lynette Bowens of Atlanta; paternal grandmother, Annie P. Bowens of Asheville; maternal grandmother, St.

BOBBY GENE FOX BURNSVILLE Bobby Gene Fox, 65, of Cane Branch, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, in an Asheville hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late John and Zilla Arrowood Fox.

He was a retired employee of Avondale Mills and an active member of his community. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nola Miller. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Silver Fox; two daughters, Rita Higgins and Gina Riddle, both of Burnsville; son, John Fox of Burnsville; two sisters, Delovia Fox of Leicester and Opal Blankenship of Burnsville; three brothers, Farris Fox of Burnsville, J.G. Fox of Leicester and Doyle Fox of Woodfin; and eight grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.

He volunteered his time and woodworking talent to Habitat for Humanity and to his church. He served on the board of trustees for Eliada Homes for Howard Atkinson Children for many years. ASHEVILLE Howard Cecil "Bill" Wood 82, of 82 Pisgah View Road, Lot 21, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Magnolia Health Care Center following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Garfield Wood Sr. and Lillie Mae Dillingham Wood and was also preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Ann Wood. Her husband, Von K. Slechter also preceded her in death. Mrs. Slechter moved to the Asheville area in 1971 from Lima, Ohio. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and volunteered at the VA Hospital in Oteen for many years.

She is survived by her sons, Ken Slecther and his wife, Lisa, of Asheville and Larry and his wife, Linda, of Hendersonville; grandsons, Scott Slechter of Asheville and Matt Slechter of Charleston, S.C.; and her aunt, Verda Partee of Lima, Ohio. The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Williams Funeral Service. Interment will folow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 8 to 8 p.m.

Barnett retired from Thiokol Elkton, where he was an inspector. He was a member of Baptist Bible Church for 49 years and served as a church trustee. He enjoyed camping with his family in North Carolina, where he served as sergeant at arms. He loved being with his wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Belle Barnett; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Larry Beamer and Susan and Greg Shrier, all of Elkton, Sherri and Alan Buchanan of Bakersville, N.C, and Teresa and Bill Smith of North East; sister, Ora Murdock of Bakersville; seven grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

Shell Jr. from the University of Houston with a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering. Bernie retired in 1998 as president of Peter Paul Petroleum in Houston. He was a lifetime member of the University of Houston Alumni Organization and a member of Arden Presbyterian Church. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Ola Laws and the stepdaughter of Will Dodd. Faris Road, died Saturday, May 17, 2003. Born in Asheville, N.C, she was the daughter of Grace Carter Cooper and the late Eugene Robert Cooper, Ms. Cooper was retired from Greenville County School District, where she taught at Plain Elementary for 1 7 years. She was also a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m.

Thursday at Augusta Road Baptist Church, Greenville, with Interment at Green Hill Cemetery, Asheville, N.C, at a later date. Russ and Arline first moved to Waynesville in Rising aau ana uvea in Laurel SgSg Ridge. They left Waynesville in 1999 when they moved to Givens Estates in Asheville. During the span of Russ' business career he worked as a marketing executive for RCA, RCA Whirlpool and then retired as a vice-president of Beech Aircraft Corp. (now a Raytheon Co.) in Wichita, Kan. During the span of Russ' career at Beech Aircraft he earned his private, commercial, instrument and multi-engine land pilots license, as well as type ratings, in both the Beechcraft Duke and the King Air.

Montague, born Dec. 23, 1 933, In his home on Freeze Hill in Sylva, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at 12:46 a.m. at Harris Regional Hospital following an extended illness. Surrounded in love by his family, he was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Freeze Montague and Kay Francis Montague and his maternal great-grandparents, the late Jesse Elizabeth Williams Freeze and Jacob Frank Freeze. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Ellen Martin Montague; children, Michael Patrick Montague of Sylva and Catherine Mary Woods Montague of Elko, and their spouses, Mitch Woods and Sharon Montague.

Brandy Michelle Woods, Brody Patrick Montague and Rachel Lynn Woods are his surviving grandchildren. Patrick was the salutatorian of his high school class in 1 951 He attended Western Carolina University and graduated with honors in 1955, after which he continued his studies at Dartmouth College. Patrick's music teaching career began in Jacksonville, at Kerby Smith Junior High School and Ribault High School and ended at Headland High School in East Point, Ga. His business career began and ended with Porex Materials Corp. in Fairburn, where he retired from the International Marketing and Sales Division.

He was the recipient of the distinguished Award from the Secretary of Commerce for his leadership with the Atlanta District Export Council. In 1971 Patrick accepted a position in Paris, France, with Bic Pen Co. He returned to the United States in 1975 and after working a year for Bic Pen Co. In Milford, he returned to Porex until his retirement In 1994. He returned to his family home in Sylva to begin the restoration of the family home and was the proprietor of The Freeze House Bed Breakfast until his death.

Patrick dedicated his life to family and community enrichment by providing music to local churches. His church music career began at the age of 14 at First United Methodist Church in Sylva as organist and continued with Beach Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Central Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, St. John's Episcopal Church in College Park, The American Cathedral in Pari9, France; St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Devon, St. David's Episcopal Church in Cullowhee; St.

Andrew's in the Pines in Peachtree City, and most recently St. John's Episcopal Church in Sylva. He enjoyed singing with the Jacksonville Opera Society; Theater Under the Stars in Atlanta; The Atlanta Symphony; The Asheville Symphony; and many community choruses. Memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Organ Fund, 18 Jackson Sylva, NC 28779.

The graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Keener Cemetery with Father Henry Burton officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the residence. I.C. NESBITT FAIRVIEW I.C. Nesbitt, 94, of 1110 Old Fort Road, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Flesher's Fairview Family Health Care. ,) A lifelong resident jr of Buncombe I County, he worked for Carolina and was a farmer. He was a member of Spring Mountain Baptist Church.

Mr. Nesbitt was a son of the late Ben F. and Bell Reed Nesbitt and was the husband of the late Lucille Nesbitt and Lois Nesbitt. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Rosabell, Gertrude, and Robirtha Nesbitt and brothers, Albert, Alvin and Ben Nesbitt. He is survived by his nephews, Gene Nesbitt and Morgan Nesbitt, both of Fairview, Alan Nesbitt of Atlanta and Tommy Nesbitt of Hopewell, nieces, Alfie Harkins and Aline Lisenbee, both of Fletcher, and Shirlene Dalton and Earline Wright, both of Fairview; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

MARTHA MARCUS BRADSHAW ALMOND Martha Marcus Bradshaw, 99, of the Wolfe Creek community in Graham County, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, in a Graham County health-care facility. A native of Graham County, she was a daughter of the late Dallas and Sarah Jane Maynor Marcus and wife of the late Fred Bradshaw.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Frances B. Andrews; son-in-law, Elmo J. Andrews; son, Charles F. Bradshaw; nine sisters and four brothers. She was a lifetime member of Panther Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Eldred Paige and husband, James, of Almond, Wilma and Pleze Sawyer of Gastonia and Glenda Whitaker and husband, Ray, of Gastonia; son, Chester Bradshaw and wife, Blanche, of Almond; daughter-in-law, Pat Rogers; 13 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; six great-greatgrandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Panther Creek Baptist Church, Almond. The Revs. Worley DeHart and Daniel Stewart will officiate.

Burial will be in Panther Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crisp Funeral Home, Bryson City, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services. Great-grandsons will be pallbearers and grandsons will be honorary pallbearers. KISTA SHERRARD BRYANT LENOIR Kista Sherrard Bryant, 51 of Wildwood Road, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

She was born Dec. 20, 1951, in Colorado Springs, and grew up in Colorado, Russia, Virginia, France, California, Massachusetts and Florida. In 1972 she graduated from Lees McRae Junior College in Banner Elk and in 1976 graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone. She wa9 a member of St. James Episcopal Church and a teacher with Caldwell County School System for 28 years.

She worked with children with special needs for the past 20 years at Whitnell Elementary School. She is survived by her husband, Travis Bryant; parents, Brig. Gen. Wright J. and Dagmar Peterson Sharrard of Asheville; and sisters Deborah S.

Ringstrom of Woodstock, N.Y., and Donna S. Leonard of Asheville. The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pendry's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Gwyn Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home and at other times will be at her home at 173 Wildwood Road. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
