ELSIE REBECCA KILLIAN BLANTYRE Elsie Rebecca Killian, 91, died Friday, May 9, 2003, at her daughter's home. She was born in the Pleasant Grove community of Henderson County to the late Henry A. and Edith Kilpatrick Gray.

She attended Etowah High School and lived Oregon for 28 years before returning to North Carolina in 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Killian who died in 1998; one brother, John Alvin Gray; two sisters, Vera Sentelle and Ethel Hamilton; a daughter-in-law, Lola Killian, and a grandson, Dennis Morgan. She was a member of Gladys Branch Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Carl Killian of Etowah; one daughter, Molly K. Morgan and her husband, Charles, of Blantyre; two sisters, Mildred Bresnahan of Pleasant Grove and Eula Landreth and her husband, Richard; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home chapel in Brevard. Revs. Kevin a a a Morgan and Bill Landreth will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

RENA BELLE ELLIOTT MARION Mrs. Rena Belle Elliott, 84, died Friday, May 9, 2003, at the McDowell Nursing Center. She was born Sep. 15, 1918, to the late John Spencer Elliott and Julia Anne Simmons Elliott. husband, Jack Y.

Elliott; son, Harold Dean Elliott; and grandson, Jack Elliott, preceded her in death. Mrs. Elliott was retired from Drexel Heritage Furnishings and was a homemaker. Surviving are daughters, Julia Anne Hensley and Linda Hensley; daughter-in-law, Jane Parker; sons, Jack. Kermit and James Donald Elliott, all of Marion; two sisters, Alma Harrison of Marion and Annie Repogle of Arizona; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

111 always love KA2072-600 Daddy's Girl, Pam JAMES ROY MOODY WAYNESVILLE James Roy Moody, 72, of 622 S. Haywood died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at his residence. A native of Graham County, he moved to Haywood County as an infant and grew up in Maggie Valley. He was the son of the late H. Grady and Cora Parks Moody.

He was also preceded in death by a James sister, Dorothy Moody Schmersahl, Moody and three brothers, Hugh Fred B. and Jack P. "Dick" Moody. He graduated from Waynesville Township High School in 1949, where his classmates voted him "class poet." He then attended Appalachian State University and graduated in 1953, where he was inducted into Who's Who in America, was president of the Business Club and was a member of the Pep Club. He was a veteran of the Army.

He earned his master's degree from Western Carolina University. He was employed by the Haywood County School System as a teacher at Bethel High School for one year and was later employed by Dayco Corp. for 10 years. He was then employed by Haywood Community College in 1966 and served as head of the business department, director of occupational education and most recently held the position of division chair of business and health and human services. He was a member of the following boards organizations: Haywood County Arts Council, Haywood County Friends of the Library, Haywood County Library Board of Trustees, Folkmoot USA, N.C.

Humanities Council, Asheville Art Museum, Maggie Valley Kiwanis Club, Pigeon River Boy Scouts of America Council, chair of the Haywood County Visiting Arts Program, chair and co-chair of the Arts Council Atlanta Ballet Project, co-chair of Waynesville Tour of Homes, National Humanities Council in New Orleans and a recipient of the Waynesville Rotary Club Paul Harris Award. He also served his family as president of the Moody reunion for 42 years. He is survived by two sisters, Catherine M. McCrary of Maggie Valley and Margaret M. Owens of Iron Station; nine nieces and nephews and numerous greatnieces and great-nephews and -nieces and great-greatnephews.

BAILEY WEAVERVILLE James Don Bailey, 65, of 560 Holcombe Branch Road, died Saturday, May 10, 2003. Mr. Bailey was born Aug. 24, 1937 in Bell County, and was a resident of Speedwell, for a number of years. He had a resident of Weaverville for the past 20 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Air Force. James James was the Bailey son of the late James Thomas and Dessie Lee Hurst Bailey. Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Irma Ray Bailey; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bailey of Speedwell; stepdaughter, Annette Griffin of Weaverville; sons, James Dennis Bailey and wife, Debbie Lynn, of Greeneville, Thomas Keith Bailey and wife, Angela, and Leslie Steven Bailey and wife, Debbie, all of Speedwell; seven grandchildren; one and special friends, Ray and Evelyn Miracle of Speedwell. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Horace "Harry" Baxter and Gladys Louise Medford Willis. She was a homemaker and had devoted her life to her husband and family. Col. Rua C. USAF 95, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Area Hospice Solace 8, Born in Parkersburg, W.Va., on Aug. 12, 1907, Col. Hayes traveled the world as an aviation pioneer, having joined the Army Air Corps in 1927.

He flew the mail route into the Yukon Territory in the 1930s before the U.S. Postal Service existed there. Hayes was an active member of Fairborn United Methodist Church, Fairborn, Ohio, for more than 30 years. He and his wife, Jane, became avid square dancers while in Fairborn. Residing Asheville the past 10 years, he was a member of Groce United Methodist Church and enjoyed square dancing with the Allemanders and the Skyland Twirlers. He was a devoted caregiver to his beloved wife, Jane during her long illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane and his daughter, Doris. He is survived his loving children, Margaret Hayes of Upland, Nancy Hayes, Rita Hayes and James Hayes, all of Asheville, Patricia Hayes Roullard of Hot Springs and Robert Hayes of Raleigh; his loving sister, Dorothy Hubler of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
