Moore; and a granddaughter, Maggie Anne Moore. Survivors included her three daughters, Sharon Corrozzo and husband, Carmen, of Illinois, Belinda Sue Sabella of Illinois, Paula Moore of Georgia; three sons, James S. He was born March 8, 1955 to Virginia Mae Owenby and Woodrow William Owenby in Asheville. He is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by many family members including: his mother, Virginia Owenby; his wife, Debra Shelton Owenby; his daughter and her husband, Stephanie and Carlos Mejia; his son and his wife, Jason and Chrissie Owenby; and his granddaughter, Mary Dakota Owenby; his cousin and his wife, Tommy and Sandra Bryson, their sons and their wife's, Keith and Dana Bryson, and Kenneth and Teresa Bryson; and his best friend, Bruce Horton and his wife, Renate. Steve was born and raised in Asheville. He moved to the WinstonSalem area to attend Wake Forest University and eventually settled in Lewisville, N.C.

He was an Eagle Scout, a Forsyth Tech Nursing Graduate, and a top salesman for both Pilling Surgical Co. and Medtronic. He eventually gave up sells to create his own business, Neatconcepts Inc. He was also the COowner of Med-Edge and JO Motorsports. He especially enjoyed his children and all of their friends, animals of all kinds, and was always up for a good joke or story.

LEICESTER William Carson "Bill" Jordan passed away on Monday, the 7th day of June, at The Charles George VA Medical A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Tom A. and Ollie Lance Pinner. He was the husband of the late Barbara Severn Kinmon, who died in 1957 and of the late' Mary Newman Pinner, who died in 2002. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Ailene David, Ruth Cochrane, Katherine Cole, Gladys Nettles, Tom A. Pinner Jr.

and Robert Pinner. Cecil was a retired executive director of the YMCA, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, past member of the Lions Club and the Jaycees and was an avid racquetball player. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Lynne Birkler of Lakeland, and Mary Phyllis Kinmon of Brunswick, two sons, Philip Kinmon of Hendersonville and Quinn E. Pinner of Manlius, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, including Maranda Baldwin, with whom. he lived and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, with the Rev. Victor Mansfield officiating. June 8, 2010. was born Buncombe County and was son of the late Garfield and Oleta McDevitt Ponder. He was an Air Force veteran and a retired finance manager. He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Kelly and her husband, Jerry; a son, Kevin Ponder and his wife, Stacey; seven grandchildren, David Hines and wife, Lisa, Heather and Austin Hines, and Jordyn Brynildsen and Reagan, Riley and Reece Ponderthree great-grandchildren, Caiden Hines, Colten Hines, and Layla Shoffner; and a brother, Leonard and special friends, Marsha Coleman and Charlie Ray. Groce Funeral Home East Asheville on Tun- MARDELL S. RIVERS ASHEVILLE Mardell S. Rivers, 89, of Riceville Road, Asheville, died on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at her residence. A native of Saucier, Mrs. Rivers was a daughter of the late John Langston and Clara Saucier Scarborough.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Ellis Rivers. Mrs. Rivers was a graduate of the Kings Daughters Hospital Nursing School. She was a member of the Magnolia Garden Club, and a member of First Baptist Church, in Greenville, Miss. This Irish blessing was found among her many beloved books handwritten on a worn piece of paper: May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind always be to your back, may the sun shine warm on your face, may the rain fall soft on your land, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Mrs. Mardell Rivers was a spirited and independent matriarch to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She instilled in them a love and respect for plants and animals, a sense of social responsibility and a strong work ethic. She dedicated her life to serving others, first as a nurse and then as a wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. She found fulfillment not as the center of attention, but by assisting others in their pursuits.

Her pleasures in life were simple including her daily crossword puzzle, reading mystery novels, sharing afternoon coffee with a friend, admiring her birds and chatting with her family. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Carol Rivers; sons, William Gale Rivers, Robert Hayward Rovers, and John Ellis Rivers sister, Bess Scarborough; brothers, Edward Hayward, Jack, Lee, Bill, and L.N. Scarborough; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Mrs.

Rivers will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Boone Funeral Home, in Greenville, Miss. Interment will follow in Leland Cemetery. Donations may be made to Disabled' American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH, 45250.
