She was born June 8, 1920 in Madison County, where she lived all of her life. She was a member of Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Carrie Rice Wallin and a great niece, Michelle Norton.

Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Ward Adams; brothers and sisters, Virginia W. Norton, Richmond Wallin, Edison Wallin and wife, Pansy, and Wendell Wallin and wife, Ruth; nieces and nephews, Harvey Norton and wife, Juanita, Rita Faye Norton, Donna Spitzer and husband, Ron, Sandra Ford and husband, Ricky, Steven Wallin and wife, Patricia, and special niece, Lora Mae Norton; great niece and nephews, Charlene Davis and husband, Charley, Tim Norton and Jeremy and McKenzi Wallin; and great great nephew and niece, Max and Jenni Marie Davis. Funeral services were held Sept. 7 in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home with the Reverends Jimmy Dean Hensley and Neal Adams officiating. Interment followed in Wallin Family Cemetery.

www.MadisonFH.com Janice Metcalf Buckner Age 69 Janice Metcalf Buckner, 69, passed away Sept. 5. Mrs. Buckner was born April 27, 1941 in Unicoi, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Footsie" Buckner; parents, Bart and Frances Hensley Metcalf and sister, Jeanette Metcalf King.

Surviving are her son, Curtis Buckner and wife, Angie; daughters, Barbara Norton and Dawn Strickland (Steve); sisters, Mable Reese, Reba Metcalf, Mafre Cole and Alberta Webb; brothers, Larry and Robert Metcalf; grandchildren, Stephen, Carrie, Jay, Misty, Tina and David; and great grandchildren, Jayden, Wesley and Zoe. Funeral services were held Sept. 9 in Madison Funeral Home with the Reverends Jason Rice, and Darren Hamby officiating. Interment will follow in the State Line Cemetery. Lear Davis Fender Age 88 Lear Davis Fender, 88, of Marshall, died Sept.

5. Mrs. Fender was born Dec. 19, 1921 in Madison County where she lived all of her life. She was a member of Big Laurel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Sams Davis; son, Larry Fender; sisters, Nola Fender, Anne Rice, Essie Davis and Ethel Jenkins; and brothers, Otis and Bill Davis. She was an elder and 1 member of Dorland Memorial Presbyterian Church of Hot Springs, having previously served as the churches Clerk of Session. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Tilda Thomas; husband, George E. "Bud" Gahagan; son, Paul Ray Gahagan and brothers, Roosevelt and Henry Thomas, Jr. Surviving are her sons and daughters-inlaw, George and Francine Gahagan of Archdale, Thomas J. and Mary Gahagan, Richard Steve and June Gahagan and Donald and Sandra Gahagan, all of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Stacie, Eddie, Leigha, T.

Micheline, Lisa, Sonia, Stephen, Wade, Kenny and Christy; twelve great grandchildren; stepmother, Lora Thomas; sisters, Carolyn Finley and Sadie Finley and her husband, Harold; brothers, Paul Thomas and wife, Edna, and Charles Thomas and wife, Dianne and Bobby Thomas and wife, Belle; two special sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Baker and Lelia Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. She was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the daughter of Genoma Davis and the late John Gurley.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Keith Dartt; daughters, Sasha Beaver (Michael), Genia Wheeler (Lewis and Brianne Kinmon (Patrick); sisters, Shawnee Gurley and Sheila McKinnley; Alan and Mark Gurley; grandchildren, Trevor and Shaina Beaver and Mack and Grayson Wheeler. He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a son of the late James and Deborah Hurst Parker. Scot was a member of the North Buncombe Youth League, where he was active and coached T-Ball and was also a member of Woodland Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Stephanie Burrell Parker of the home; sons, Sawyer Parker and Spencer Parker of the home; brother, Jamie Parker and wife Amber of Weaverville, and niece, Kaitlynn Parker. Mr. Case was born March 23, 1952 in Buncombe County to the late Charles and Doris Abernathy Case. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam and Korean Conflict and was a retired Lieutenant of the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department's Personal Training Division. Tony was a Criminal Justice Instructor at AB Tech. Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Donna Cook Case; daughter, Kathy Case, of Asheville; son, Cody Case, of Marshall; grandson Gabriel Case, of Marshall; sisters, Kay Wilson, of Asheville, Patricia Goforth, of Candler and Sandy Hoop, of Freeport, OH; brothers, Kenneth Case, of Candler and Allen Laws, of Asheville; grandmother-in-law, Lorene Cook; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Keever Solace Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late Murphy and Sophia Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ruben "Rube" Gosnell, a daughter, Glennis Gosnell, a son, Raymond Gosnell, sister, Selma Chandler and brother, Murphy Rice, Jr. Esther and her husband owned and operated Gosnell Grocery. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her son, Kenneth Gosnell and wife Oma of Weaverville, sister, Norma Jean Franklin of Marshall, half brother, Wayne Rice of Marshall, grandchildren, Gail English, Wilma Keller and Sandra Metcalf, step granddaughter, Judy Shelton, seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held Sept. 4 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, Mars Hill. Revs. Steve Honeycutt and Willard Norton officiated.

William Lance Schooler Age 52 William Lance Schooler, 52, of 152 McKinney passed away Sept. 5 at Four Seasons (Elizabeth House). He was born in Arlington, VA to the late Walter and Jocille Moran Schooler.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude King Schooler of the home; three step-daughters; Connie Webb, Freda Hylemon, both of Barnardsville and Megan Schooler of Weaverville; step-son, Steven Mann of Norfolk, VA; sister, Dona Tharrett of Manvel, TX; brothers, Mark Hollister of Tallahassee, FL and Andrew Schooler of Winchester, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Sept. 8 at Paint Gap Baptist Church. Rev. Marty Parrott officiated.
