Born in Rushville, he lived in Oregon for 60 years, moving to Corvallis in 1922. For the past few years, he lived in Vancouver, Wash. A carpenter, he worked for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Joiners of America and the Oregon State Federation of Labor, serving as its president for 18 years.

He was a member of the Tri-State Nebraska-South Dakota-Wyoming Old-time Cowboys Association for 70 years. Survivors include daughters Lois Helfrich, Vancouver, Elsie Perkins, Molalla, and Hazel Flint, Ogden, Utah; sons Harvey, Kansas City, and Raymond, Brookings; brother, Em-mett, Rushville, sisters Oma Carte, Scotts Bluff, Clare Olds, Gordon, and Myrtle Taylor, Rushville. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens, Albany, with arrangements by McHenry mortuary, Corvallis. John P.

Kelley CORVALLIS Services will be 2 p.m. today at McHenry mortuary for John P. Kelley, 56, of 3455 NW Harrison who died Monday. Born in Milwaukee, he graduated in electrical engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in 1947 and did graduate study at Buck-nell and Colgate universities. In 1966 he came to Corvallis and was with the X-ray science and engineering laboratory at Oregon State University.

Prior to his death, he was the radiation safety officer and associate professor of radiological physics. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and Corvallis Rotary Club. Survivors include wife, Marian; sons Edwin Corvallis, and John Chicago, daughter, Linda Corvallis. Private final rites will be at Mt. Crest Abbey, Salem.

Survivors include sons Jerry, Klamath Falls, and James, Mill City; daughters Betty Storm, Crescent City, Mary Lou Hess and Carol Zinda, McMinnville, Rosann Goffena, Amity; brothers Charles and Wilford, both of McMinnville; sisters Minnie Zinsli, Milwaukie, and Frances Van Dyke, Forest Grove. Wake service will be 7 p.m.

Friday at Macy Son mortuary. Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Church, with interment in St. James Cemetery.

Glen McBride OMAHA, Neb. (AP) Brig. Gen. Glen C. McBride, 79, who retired in 1958 after a 30-year Army career, died Friday of heart failure.

In World War II he commanded the 6th Armored Division under Gen. George Patton at the Battle of the BulgeTthen served under Gen. Douglas Mac Arthur during the occupation of Japan 1948-1950. Helene De Latour SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Helene de Latour, 79, a socialite who guided the fortunes of her family's Beaulieu Vineyards for 2 decades, died Friday. She was owner of Beaulieu 1951-69.

William H. Jones CHICAGO (AP) William H. Jones, 43, managing editor of the Chicago Tribune and a winner of the 1971 Pulitzer Prize for local reporting, died Tuesday of leukemia. Inez Winefred Stevens SHERIDAN Inez Winefred Stevens, 65, 740 N.E. Center died Sunday.

Born in Schuyler, she came here in 1944. Survivors include sons, Larry, Albany, and Duane, McMinnville; daughters, Gloria Darling and Joann Stevens, both of Portland; foster son, Dennis D'Anglis, Los Angeles, brothers, Ross, Alvin and Gordon Bailey, sisters, Jean Pearson and Dorothy Bailey, all of Willamina. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Adamson mortuary. Interment will be in Greencrest Memorial Park.

Oscar Sibley 'Sid' Knox WALDPORT Oscar Sibley "Sid" Knox, 63, Box 7 Bayview Road, died Monday. Born in Kansas, he came here in 1950 and for 20 years was a real-estate broker at Seal Rock. He had been a Lincoln County commissioner 1962-65 and chairman of the County Planning Commission, served on the Lincoln County Soil Water Conservation Board, was instrumental in initiating Seal Rock water, sewer and fire districts and was a recipient of the Developer of the Year award. At the time of his death, he was a director of Pioneer Telephone Co-op of Philomath. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Moose and several veterans' organizations including American Legion.

Survivors include wife, Ila Jean; son, Michael Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Sunny Van Zyl, Siletz; brothers Harry Mosier, Grandview, and Frank Knox, Wapato, sister, Mary Alice Thomas, Diamond, Ark. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today in Chelan Abbey Mausoleum, Newport. Arrangements are by Bate-man mortuary, Newport. James Arnold SILVERTON James Arnold, 85, 1 164 S.

Water died Monday. Born in New York, he was a shipyard worker. He lived at a Silverton nursing home for about a year. Survivors include son, James, Long-wood, daughters Mary Ball, West Fargo, N.D., and Hazel Sear, Denver, Colo. Services will be 11 a.m.

today at Unger mortuary, with private interment. Elliott H. Neas Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in City View Cemetery for Elliott H. Neas, 73, of 4113 Indigo Court NE, who died Monday.

Arrangements are by Barrick mortuary. Born in Wichita, he came here 2 years ago. He had been a lumber price clerk and was an Army veteran of World War II and a Mason. Survivors include wife, Augusta; sister. Marguerite Neas, Wichita; brothers Kenneth, Wichita, Leonard, Fort Collins, and Keith, San Diego, Calif.

Rose Reznicsek Rau LYONS Rose Kathryn Reznicsek Rau, 67, of 45819 River Loop Road, died Tuesday. Services are pending at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen mortuary, Salem. Byron J. "Arkie" Benedict, 72, of 535 45th Place NE, died Monday. Bom in Traskwood, he came to Oregon in 1940 I and lived in the Albany area before coming to Salem in 1970.

He was known as "Arkie the Jolly Cowboy and His Fiddle." He began his career at an early age, playing lor byron benedict square dances at age 9 and on radio at 17. He performed in vaudeville and with many country western stars. He moved to Ridgefield, in 1938, Portland in 1940 and Albany in 1954. He appeared on many radio programs, including the Red Dunning Sagebrush Symphony on KOIN. He had a 13-year show on KXL and later had two television shows.

He operated the Division Street Corral 1948-54 in Portland. He also played at the Cotton-woods Ballroom in Albany, the Aums-ville Pavilion and many private clubs. A tribute to "Arkie" was held in the Albany Armory in May 1981, when his illness became public. Survivors include wife, Lucy E. daughters Melba Lynn Coo-per, Reno, and Mary Rogers-Robertson and Donna Raye Geurin, both of Salem; brothers Donald, Salem, Dan, Ridgefield, and Guy, Arkansas.

The casket will be open 5-9 p.m. Friday at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen mortuary where services will be 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens. Contributions may be made to the Toy Joy Program in care of Salvation Army, P.O.

Box 7047, Salem 97303. Ruby M. Andersen WATERLOO Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at Huston mortuary, Lebanon, for Ruby M. Andersen, 58, 30741 Seventh who died Saturday.

The casket will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the mortuary. Private interment will be in the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Born in Carlton, she came to Waterloo in 1967 from Dallas.

She owned and operated Lebanon beauty shops. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. Survivors include husband, Robert; son, Jerry Benson, Dallas; daughter, Vicki Merkel, Springfield; step-son, David Anderson, Bend; step-daughter, Barbara Andersen, Eugene; brother, Lloyd Gray, Lebanon; and sister, Janice Wiens, Fairview, Okla. Eastburn SHERIDAN Glen R. Eastburn, 67, 216 NE Yamhill died Tuesday. Born in Elgin, he farmed in Colorado before coming to Sheridan in 1949. He was a carpenter and worked for U.S. Plywood retiring in 1977.

Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth Pender, Portland; son, Glen R. San Mateo, brother, Claude, Jewelsburg, sisters Bonita Goll and Eleanor Mullen, both of Denver. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Scott's mortuary, McMinnville. Private interment will be in Evergreen Mausoleum.

Born in Buena Vista, he came to Philomath in 1975 from Salem. He was a Salem fireman for 20 years prior to World War II, a Navy veteran and a member of Pacific Lodge 50, AM, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Lat-ter-Day Saints. Survivors include wife, Olga; son, Richard, Portland. No public services will be held. Arrangements are by McHenry mortuary, Corvallis.

Earl A. VanDusen LEBANON Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Huston mortuary for Earl A. VanDusen, 68, of 1896 S. Seventh who died Sunday.

Interment will be in the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Born in Rochester, he lived in Oregon since 1937. He came to Lebanon in 1945 from Toledo. He was a millwright for Champion International from 1945 until retirement in 1975. He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ and Lebanon Elks Lodge.

Survivors include wife, Clara; sons Vernon, Bend, and Richard, an Army staff sergeant stationed at Seoul, Korea; daughter, Lanez Kay Vauble, Albany; brother, Kenneth Christensen, Lebanon; sister, Dorothy Kriede, Grand Meadow, Minn. Contributions may be made to the Southside Church of Christ. Grace L. Johnson SCIO Grace L. Johnson, 76, 38821 Jefferson-Scio Road, died Tuesday.

Born in Seattle, she lived in Oregon from an early age. She came to Scio in 1946 from the coast. Survivors include husband, Paul; sister, Jessie Easter, Beaverton. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
