The evening continued with music provided by nephew Ignacio Damian, Jr. A few more reasons why women love their men There are a lot of good things about being married.

Not worrying about a date comes to mind. Give me a little time and I'll think of some more things, but the big reason for sharing a life with a man is that he can open jars with lids that have been put on by the same wrenches used to tighten the lug bolts on your tires. Men can get to bacon that has been hermetically sealed for a future in the Smithsonian Institution. I know what you're thinking. You're saying to yourself, "This is a sexist thing, and she is suggesting that men are stronger than women." Wrong.

I am suggesting that a woman, given a package of lunch meat with a handy zip lock for future use, will rip at it with her teeth, stab it to death with a bread knife, beat it senseless with a fork and bludgeon it on the counter edge. She will be on the verge of insanity when her husband says, "Give me He flips his fingernail under it, and it opens in seconds. That is because the woman has loosened it up. You could breathe on it at this point and the plastic would give way. In some marriages, it is the only thing a man does to make him feel good about himself.

He may not buy the food, make a decision on what to cook or how i Erma Bombeck At Wit Enc to prepare it, but he can get it out of the package. I've seen it happen a million times. During the last 50 years, grocery stores have gone from personal little shops where the grocer did everything for you to today's do-it-yourself warehouses. Changes made it possible for a woman to put her fresh fruits and vegetables in plastic bags if she could get the bags open. There's an army of us every day who stand in the aisles rubbing the plastic bags together as though we're trying to make fire from twigs.

If there is no man in sight, we do what we have to do spit. Want to provide comic relief for aisle seven? Try to get two soft drinks out of the plastic carrier. The strength thing is a rumor started by men and is left over from the days when women were content to feel a man's muscle and quiver. If there is a woman out there who does not admit to using it to her advantage, she is lying. I figured out a long time ago that no one cares if one of my basic skills is getting a candy bar out of its wrapper.

Oh sure, I could try to rip it with my teeth, use my fingernails as hacksaws, struggle to penetrate it with an emery board, or simply give it to my husband and say, "I don't know what I'd do if I weren't married to the strongest man in the world." He will smile and say, "I'll get my toolbox." Universal Press Syndicate Photographs presented as social documents LOS ANGELES (AP) The Museum of Contemporary Art has put on show several series by major photographers from a collection of 2,100 photographic prints it acquired last year. The museum says the collection traces the development of American documentary photography from the 1940s through the 1980s. This selection is presented as social documents that recreate daily life as letters or diaries would. Images range from Brassai's nocturnal scenes of Paris to Robert Frank's classic, The Americans. Among other series represented in the show are Helen Levitt's photos of New York street life; Danny Lyons' The Bikeriders, and Garry Winograd's The Animals, which tries to break down divisions between humans and animals.

The exhibition, Social Documents: MOCA 's New Photography Collection, will remain on show through May 26..
