Granite Furniture Chief, Area Leader, Dies at 85 One of the senior business leaders; in Sugar House, Willard B. Richards 85, 1970-9th East, died Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital after a short illness. Willard B. Richards Jr.

Helped to build Sugar House. Death Claims Graiitsville Leader at 85 Special to The Tribune GRANTSVILLE Hyrum LeRoy Sutton 85, a former mayor of Grantsville, and Tooele County official, died Mr. Richards was president and general manager of Granite Furniture Co. He was born Oct. 3, 1879, in Mendon, Cache County, a son of Willard B.

and Ann Doremus Richards. He was a grandson of Willard Richards, friend and associate of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. 80 Years in Area When he was 5, his family moved to Sugar House where he resided the rest of his life. As a young man he was a contractor and later was one of the founders of Granite furniture Co. He was president and cofounder with his brother, the late Dr.

Paul S. Richards, of the Richards Memorial Medical Foundation. Mr. Richards had been a director of the Sugar House Lumber and Hardware Co. and was active in assisting in the organization of numerous other businesses in the area.

Mr. Epperson became instrumental music supervisor of 'the Jordan School District in 1920, a position he held for 37 years. Richards was a charter member and past president of the Sugar House Rotary Club and charter member of the Salt Lake Executives Club. He was active in when he began playing a drum in a juvenile band in Midway. With the help of his brothers, Lawrence and Amos, Mr. Epperson organized the Epperson of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a former bishop of the Lincoln LDS Ward and a member and group leader of the high priest's quorum of that ward at the time of his death. He devoted many years in working with Orchestra which Church (popular throughout Wasatch Summit and Utah counties.

He had served as instrumental music supervisor and teacher in Provo city schools, and organized Epperson's Military Band.
