Born Nov. 25. 1912. in Dayton. he WAS a son of Will and Blanche Kirkpatrick Mechling.

Mr. Mechling married Sydney S. Smith on June 6. 1939. He was a member of the Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church.

where he also served as an elder: Free and Accepted Masons: Coudersport Consistory: Jaffa Shrine Temple. Punxsutawney Country Club: BPOE Lodge No 301: and the Board of Directors of the Circle Hill Ceme tery Association since its inception in 1966. where he also served as president. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Punxsutawney Community Concert Association and was the first president of the Punxsutawney Home Health Service. Mr.

Mechling attended Grove City College and graduated from Penn State University in 1935. He received a Master of Science Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He taught school at Dayton and Knox Before his retirement in 1968. he was the head of the Agriculture Department of the Punxsutawney Area School District for 25 years. He prided himself on being an expert refinisher and restorer of antique furniture.

Surviving are one niece, Ann Mechling. Port Orchard, and two nephews: William Mechling. Golden. Will Mechling. Palmyra, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife. who died May 10. 1996: three children: Gale, Lynn and William S. Mechling: two brothers: David and John: and one sister, Mary Mechling. Friends will be received Tuesday from 24 and 7-9 p.m.

Interment will take place in the Circle Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Circle Hill Cemetery Association. Doris Rairigh 18. 1997, Indiana Hospital. The daughter of Ira Clair and Margaret Irene Campbell Edwards, she was born April 9.

1934, in Indiana. She married Albert E. Rairigh on Nov. 27, 1959, and was the mother of two children. Doris graduated from Indiana High School in 1952 and from the Indiana State Teachers College in 1956 with a degree in Home Economics.

For combined nine years, she taught Home Economics in the Butler and Indiana School Districts. In 1965 she left her teaching career to help operate the family funeral home and raise a family in Hillsdale. Her devotion to her family and to the funeral home will be sadly missed. Doris was a member of the Graystone Presbyterian Church. Indiana: Rainbow Diamond Glass Club, Indiana; and the Northern Indiana County Cancer Coalition She was a past member of the American Cancer Society of Indiana County and the Indiana Quota Club.

Surviving are her husband, Albert E. Rairigh, Hillsdale; one son, David A. Rairigh and wife, Jennifer (Brader), Indiana; one daughter, Judith I. Rairigh, Hillsdale; one grandson, Daniel T. Rairigh, Indiana: two sisters: Mrs.

John (Isabel) Barney, Hagerstown. Mrs. Mary Ellen Heaton, Indiana; two uncles: Otis T. Edwards. Blairsville RD Henry Turnbull.

Indiana; one aunt, Ruby Campbell, Homer City: and many nieces. nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends will be received Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 24 and 7-9 p.m.

Frailey was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Butler, where he as an elder: past master of Philanthropy Lodge No. 225. Greensburg: Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley. New Castle. and a life member of the National Rifle Association.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. having served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as an area manager by Agway Inc. Surviving are his parents of Parkwood; his wife.

Lois Jean Stiffer Frailey: one daughter, Mrs. Evan Fox. Oreland. one son. Mark Frailey.

Prospect: two granddaughters: one brother. William B. Frailey, St. Charles. and two nephews.

in Homer City. Mr. Pedaci was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholie Church in Indiana and the VPW Post No. 1989 of Indiana.

Before his retirement. he was employed as a weight worker for Fisher Scientific. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War Il as an aerial gunner. Surviving are his wife.

Duncan was a member of the Black Lick Community United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. He was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel. Johnstown Works, Franklin Division. Surviving are his wife of S4 years, Orvetta Mack Duncan: these children: Cloyd and wife. Judy Sabo Duncan.

McAdoo earns rank of Eagle Scout CLYMER Timothy James McAdoo of Clymer Boy Scout Troop 13 was awarded his Eagle Scout rank during a ceremony and recognition dinner held in his honor at the Clymer Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall. Tim, 17, is the son of Rick and Carry McAdoo of Indiana and a student at Penns Manor High School.

He entered scouting as a Tiger cub in November 1987. He proceeded through the ranks of cub scouting and in February 1992 earned the Arrow of Light. the highest award in cub scouting In June 1992, he advanced to Troop 13 and proceeded through the ranks, earning the Boy Scouts' highest rank of Eagle. He has been elected to the Order of the Arrow. Nachamawat Lodge No.

275. He also earned two religious awards and held several offices. McAdoo's scouting activities include four summer camps, troop swims, cross country ski trips, kiondike derbies. mall displays. biking trips and cave trips.

He also attended two high adventure scout trips. In 1994 he went to Philmont Scout ranch in Cimarron, N.M., and in 1996 to Florida Sea Base lo gos snorkeling. Ag an Eagle project, McAdoo planned, organized and carried out the building of four trout floats. After completion, Tim and other troop members. along with Trout Unlimited members, stocked local streams.

Dean Hill served as master of ceremonies for the court of honor. Tim chose his older brother Rickey as his honor escort through the trail of the Eagle portion of the ceremony. Rickey also took part in a candle lighting along with Tim's cousins Tammie and Scot Pifer. Scot offered the invocation and benediction. Jim "MacBlane.

another cousin of Tim's. read a poem and presented the trail of the Eagle. The Eagle challenge was given by Rickey. The Eagle oath was delivered by Eagle Scout Brent Wolff. Other highlights included letters of congratulations from Bill Clinton.

The Nag was flown over the United States Capitol on Feb. 28 in Tim's honor. Unattended fire extinguished BLAIRSVILLE An unattended controlled burn was extinguished by the Blairsville Fire Department about 8:40 p.m. Saturday. The fire was near the a private landing strip northwest of Blairsville.

The strip belong to James Shearer. In other fire calls: HOMER CITY Heavy rain Sunday night put out a tree fire before members of the Homer City Fire Department arrived. They were sent to the fire on Hilltop Road near Bethel Church at 8:56 p.m. HOMER CITY Firefighters from the Homer City Fire Department used absorbant material to soak up spilled gasoline on Greenville Road at 9:47 p.m. Sunday.

A manhole cover had flipped beneath a car driven by Wilma Lichtenfels of Indiana RD and ripped open the car's oil pan and gasoline tank. 7k, 10-4, Sat 10-2 Tea VITAMIN DISCOUNT CONNECTION COMMODORE Three people were treated at area hospitals after they were injured in a two- vehicle accident in Green Township at 6:50 p.m. Saturday. A pickup truck driven by Robert Weaver, of Commodore, was stopped at the intersection of Routes 286 and 240. A van operated by Dathan Westover of Blairsville failed to stop and collided with the back of the truck, reported state police in Indiana. Both drivers and Laciee Webster of Hillsdale, a passenger in the Weaver vehicle, were hurt.

Westover was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown. where he was listed fair condition by a hospital spokeswoman this morning. Weaver and Webster were taken by ambulance to the Indiana Hospital. Both were treated and later released, according to a spokeswoman. Commodore firefighters assisted at the scene.

In other traffic accidents reported by area police: BLACK LICK A truck hauling Fig Newtons flipped over on State Route 3017 west of Black Lick at 4.05 a.m. today. The driver, Randy S. Bruner, 37, of Indiana. suffered a minor injury but was not hospitalized.

Plumville firefighters assisted with traffic control. KNOXDALE A Punxsutawney man was injured when his car ran off State Route 3020 near Knoxdale and struck a utility pole at 6:40 a.m. Friday. Thomas Baritar, 48, was treated at Brookville Hospital and later released, according to state police in Punxsutawney. MAHAFFEY A Mahaffey man was slightly hurt when his car crashed after he swerved to miss a deer on Route 36 between Mahaffey and McGee's Mills at 7:10 p.m.
