Johnson Juanita Payne Johnson, 88, formerly of 717 Reed St, Biltmore, died Thursday, July 1, in a Buncombe County rest home. She was a native of Madison County and had lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She was Florence Sams HENDOtSONVIUI Florence Justus Sams, 91, of Hendersonville Inn, died Friday, July 2, in a Hendersonville hospital. She was a native of Henderson County and former resident of Greenville, S.C., before returning to Hendersonville in 1991.

She was the daughter of the late Avery and Virginia Justus. She was formerly employed by Mars Hill College Book Store and was also a housemother at the college. She was a member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church and VFW and American Legion Ladies' Auxiliaries. Surviving are her husband, Mortimer R. Sams daughter, Toni Reese of Hendersonville; sister, Iris Virginia Gambill of Hendersonville; two stepdaughters, Mary Frances Windham of Lake City, S.C., and Anne Anderson of Spartanburg, S.C.; stepson, Mortimer Sams III of Atlanta, and seven stepgrandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the services at the funeral home, and at other times, will be at the residence.

and Genevieve Lazenby Fox. She had lived in Asheville since 1958 and had been a teller at the First Union National Bank. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Asheville chapter of the P.E.O., and Children's Welfare League. Surviving are her husband, James L. McLelland; two sons, Jimmy McLelland of San Diego, and Brad McLelland of Asheville; sister, Joan F.

Chambers of Statesville, and a grandchild. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Lewis Memorial Park. The Rev. Michael Brown will officiate.

Msssnsr Huff, 79, tctto to Crevsrd chrlc drctes, dies BREVARD Maenner Blan-chard Huff, 79, of 7 Meadowbrook Circle, died Monday, June 28, in an Asheville hospital. A native of Ancon, Panama Canal Zone, he had lived in Transylvania County since 1975. He was the son of the late Mercer Blanchard and Selma Maenner Huff and was married to Antoinette Huff who died in 1990. He was a third generation native of the Panama Canal Zone and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shrine Club, Elks Lodge 1726 in Brevard, Pisgah Hikers, Biltmore Square Mall Hearty Hikers and Brevard High School Booster Club. He was past treasurer of the Republican Party in Brevard and coached the Brevard High School pole vaulting team for more than 10 years.

He retired as a supervisory systems accountant for The Panama Canal Co. in 1975. He is survived by his wife, Christine L. Huff; son, Donald B. Huff of New Baltimore, three daughters, Christine B.

Fuwell of Hastings of Hudson, N.Y Edith L. Willoughby of Diablo Heights, Panama, and L. Antoinette Huff of San Diego, brother, Thomas D. Huff of Indiana, stepson, Arthur Thomas Crook of Jonesboro, four grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Services will be at 11 ajn.

Llewellyn Daphine S. Llewellyn, 66, of Keasler Road, died Thursday, July 1, in a local hospital. A native of Lincoln County, she had lived in Asheville for the past 45 years and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Barbara Carpenter Sain. She was a member of First Christian Church. She is survived by her husband, R.P.

Llewellyn; two daughters, Judy Thrash of Roswell, and Joyce. L. Howell of Spartanburg, S.C.; two brothers, Frank and John Sain of Lincolnton, and four sisters, Nellie Martin of Ft Lauderdale, and Vera Taylor, Annie Sain, and Addle Hoover of Lincolnton, and three grandchildren. She was the daughter of the flate Arthur L. and Ida Gilbert Konigeski Welling. She retired in November 1989 as a secretary with the city of Asheville.

Harold Thomas "Buck" Buckner, 74, of 501 Horseshoe Road, died Thursday, July 1, in a Greenville medical center. Born in Asheville, he was a son of the late Albert Bruce and Hester Virginia Angel Buckner. He was a member of Aldersgate Chapel in Kissimmee, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired as operations manager at Good Samaritan Retirement Village in Kissimmee.

Firefighters from Brasstown, Murphy, Peachtree, Ranger, Belhiew and Union County, Ga-, fire departments assisted in battling the fire, which took some four hours to bring under control, Thig-pensaid. The State Bureau of Investigation has also been called in to assist with determining the cause of the blaze, which Thigpen said appears to have started in the front of the school.
